Job Description

Job Purpose:

Independently responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical database management systems. Ensures the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications. Develops data integration, security strategies, and routines to allow for the reliable and consistent delivery of data to the organization. May participate in on-call rotations related to critical services in multiple countries. Provides global support to resolve database application outages and to help diagnose application problems. Ensures backout plans are created and executable in the event of an implementation problem. Continually updates skillset and stays abreast of technologies trends and developments. Trains Database Engineers and Associate Engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Perform database design and implementation, including ETL, system jobs and scripts necessary to meet business onbjectives for projects. (35%)

• Troubleshoot performance problems and guide developers to improved query tuning, schema refinement and integration of complex systems. (25%)

• Provide 24x7 support for critical database systems (20%)

• Provide assistance and mentoring to more junior engineers (10%)

• Stay abreast of industry best practices and continue to develop technical skills (10%)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• 5 to 8 Years of relevant work experience.

• Master's / Postgraduate Degree with Computer Science or Related Field of Study preferred.

• Bachelor's Degree with Computer Science or Related field of study required.

• Other Education / Certifications: Administrator and advanced engineering certifications related to 2 of the following database platforms: MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, DB2, HANA.

• Able to execute instructions and to request clarification when needed.

• Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.

• Able to recognize and attend to important details with accuracy and efficiency.

• Able to communicate clearly and convey necessary information.

• Able to create and conduct formal presentations.

• Able to negotiate skillfully, promote/sell ideas persuasively, and close transactions with mutually beneficial results.

• Possesses strong multi-cultural interpersonal skills.

• Possesses strong leadership skills with a willingness to lead, create new ideas, and be assertive.

• Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.

• Able to constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines.

• Able to work independently with minimum supervision.

• Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
