Team: Silsoe Horticultural Centre

Job Family: CBG8 - Supporting 

Salary: £31,022 - £33,851 per annum, pro rata

Hours: Full-time - 37 hours per week

Location: Silsoe Horticultural Centre, Silsoe

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role:

We are recrutiing for a Senior Day Care Officer for the Silsoe Horticultural Centre. It operates from a three-acre horticultural site, including a Cafe, you will provide support to the Day Service Manager, in the leadership and operational oversight to a dedicated team, embracing and cultivating best practice in the delivery of the new evolving day offer. This will involve partnership working with the people that attend the day centre, carers, staff, volunteers, and colleagues both within Central Bedfordshire Council and the wider social care community.

To provide high-quality care and support for adults with learning disabilities, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. The Senior Day Care Officer will lead and manage a team of staff, ensuring the delivery of person-centred services that promote independence, well-being, and social inclusion.

Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and within a social care setting, as well as ideally having knowledge and experience of horticultural matters is desired.

Experience in leadership and management, care planning and delivery, record keeping and administration, health and safety, risk assessments and safeguarding and promoting meaningful activities and engagement is also required. Additionally, we are looking for someone with experience in a supervisory or leadership role, strong communication and problem-solving and decision-making skills, ability to set a professional and a positive environment, commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, reflective leadership skills and someone who takes accountability. Crucially we are looking for someone who has a passion for involving people who attend the day centre, in the future developments of their services, whether it be for their wellbeing or future opportunities for volunteering and employment.
