Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our technology team and help manage, optimize, and secure our enterprise database environments.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, integrity, and security of business-critical databases across production and non-production environments. You will act as a technical expert, working closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, and architecture teams to support reliable and scalable data platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Administer, maintain, patch, and upgrade enterprise database platforms.
  • Monitor database availability, health, performance, and capacity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database incidents and performance issues.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, replication, and high availability solutions.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Implement database security controls, access management, auditing, and encryption.
  • Collaborate with application teams to review database changes and improve application performance.
  • Support database migrations, modernization, automation, and platform improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain database standards, documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Mentor junior database administrators and act as an escalation point for complex issues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience as a Database Administrator in an enterprise environment.
  • Deep knowledge of one or more database technologies, such as: Microsoft SQL Server Oracle Database PostgreSQL MySQL / MariaDB MongoDB Azure SQL Database AWS RDS / Aurora Google Cloud SQL
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with backup and restore strategies, disaster recovery, replication, clustering, and high availability.
  • Good understanding of database security, access control, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Scripting or automation experience using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, SQL scripting, or infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and support critical production environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with database migration, consolidation, or modernization projects.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated database deployments.
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as Azure Monitor, Datadog, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle DBA, AWS Database Specialty, or equivalent.
