We’re looking for our next Senior Data Scientist, Operational Excellence. Could It Be You?
The ‘Senior Data Scientist, Operational Excellence’ serves as the "Data Quarterback” for Brokerage Operations, transforming raw data into actionable intelligence. Your purpose is to build a robust analytical platform that optimizes workforce management, predicts client activity and queue volume, and quantifies the ROI of efficiency initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Operational Excellence, you will bridge the gap between complex data science and frontline operational execution.

In this role, you will act as the key driver for the data mandate of the Operational Excellence team. You will work side-by-side with Data Analysts, providing technical mentorship and setting the standard for how data is collected, analyzed, and visualized. Your focus will be on building the infrastructure for workforce optimization and volume forecasting within a high-stakes, regulated environment. You must be well-versed in all aspects of Data Science including problem formulation, data engineering, in-depth analysis, machine learning, communication, story-telling and process change monitoring. You will work side-by-side with all Brokerage Operations leaders, and will occasionally collaborate closely with peers across Technology, Product, Strategy, Growth, and Sales & Service.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Act as the primary advisor to the Manager of Operational Excellence on all things data; help define the data roadmap and guide Data Analysts to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
• Take a leading role in building an effective and consistent platform of data analysis, reporting, and forecasting that will enable significantly better workforce management and forecasting, and will fuel effective decision making and ROI tracking around Operational Efficiency and Workforce Development priorities.
• Lead the end-to-end creation and maintenance of automated dashboards and analytics tools to track real-time KPIs, SLAs, and operational benchmarks.
• Utilize trend analysis to proactively identify operational risks, emerging bottlenecks, and opportunities for process automation.
• Design and implement frameworks to track agent productivity and performance benchmarks.
• Develop sophisticated predictive models to forecast client queue volumes and request types, allowing for proactive resource allocation.
• Establish a rigorous methodology for tracking the impact of operational changes, ensuring every efficiency project has a clear, data-backed ROI.
• Integrate and leverage Questrade's tech stack (SQL, Python, Google AI, Tableau/Power BI) to create a seamless reporting ecosystem.
• Build models to optimize staffing levels against fluctuating market activity.
• Identify opportunities to embed data and analytics throughout strategy and new product development processes on an ongoing basis.
• Help ensure data quality and integrity across Operations actively monitoring our various data sources and ensuring data is consistent between our Book of Records and internal database.
• Follow company best practices and continuously adopt the latest technical capabilities.
• Quickly develop a strong understanding of the organization’s operating model, its interactions and its complexity to engage with the appropriate stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, or high-level analytics, ideally within a financial services firm, bank, insurance, or healthcare company.
• Strong understanding of the Investment and/or Asset Management industry will be a plus.
• Experience in financial, insurance,
• Mastery of Tableau, SSRS and/or Power BI to turn complex datasets into intuitive, executive-level dashboards.
• Experience with GCP data services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataplex, Cloud Composer (Airflow), and Pub/Sub
• Experience leveraging AI tools (Vertex AI, Notebook LM, GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, n8n, Langchain stack, Gemini, etc.) and Google App Script to automate workflows and enhance predictive capabilities.
• Expertise in Reporting, Visualization, Predictive Modelling, Machine Learning using analytical tools such as SAS, Julia, Python, R.
• Advanced Analytic skills, with an expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation, statistical modeling, and automation.
• Containerization/Orchestration: Knowledge of Kubernetes and/or Databricks.
• Proven experience in time-series forecasting, regression analysis, and machine learning techniques applied to operational environments.
• Understanding of and/or experience with Operational Excellence, lean management, lean six sigma, six sigma, or Kaizen will be a plus.
• Ability to lead projects from conception to delivery, directing the work of junior analysts while maintaining hands-on involvement in technical builds.
• Exceptional ability to translate "data speak" into business insights for stakeholders and senior leadership.
• A lean, continuous-improvement mindset focused on identifying inefficiencies and creating scalable solutions.
• Able to assess business situations and translate them into credible analytics frameworks.
• Ability to quickly understand complex operational processes and procedures.
• Strong critical thinking and ability to decompose complex concepts into simple and compelling messages.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an extraordinary attention to detail and verbal reasoning skills.
• You have a proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• You have excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Able to multitask, and prioritize and re-prioritize workload as needed.
