About The Role

As a Senior Data Scientist with John Deere Financial in Indaiatuba, Brazil, you will be responsible for validating predictive models as a member of JDF's global Model Risk Management team. Working closely with colleagues across Brazil, India, and the United States, you will apply analytical rigor, critical thinking, and effective challenge to assess model performance, identify risks, and strengthen model governance. Main Responsabilities

  • Perform validation activities for models covering areas including Credit Risk, Treasury, Accounting, Sales and Marketing;
  • Contribute to various projects relating to risk identification and model validation processes;
  • Perform validation of traditional statistical models as well as machine learning and GenAI-based analytical solutions;
  • Evaluate compliance of models with internal Model Risk Management policies and regulatory expectations;
  • Assess model limitations, risks, controls, and business usage to ensure appropriate governance and risk mitigation.

Skils You Need

  • Bachelor’s, Degree in Economics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or a related quantitative field;
  • Advanced English (broad vocabulary, strong grammar, able to lead meetings, debate, negotiate and conduct training sessions);
  • 2+ years of experience developing or independently validating predictive models, or an advanced degree in a relevant quantitative discipline in lieu of professional experience;
  • Proficiency with statistical modelling and data management tools such as Python, R, Databricks and SAS;
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical and machine learning methodologies, including time series analysis, regression techniques, classification models, and credit scoring frameworks;
  • Commitment to team success and a proactive, collaborative approach to problem solving and different cultures and time zones;
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;
  • Availability to work on-site at the Indaiatuba, SP headquarters and flexibility to collaborate with global colleagues and stakeholders across multiple time zones as business needs require.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Master's, PhD or specialization in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience performing independent model reviews, conceptual soundness assessments, and outcome analysis;
  • Understanding of SR 11-7 ,SR 26-2, CECL requirement and model validation practices;
  • Understanding of model lifecycle management, model risk governance, and validation frameworks;
  • Experience applying statistical analysis and analytical methodologies in analytics projects;
  • Working knowledge of emerging AI and generative AI technologies, with a desire to learn how these tools are evaluated, monitored, and governed in a model risk management framework;
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting concepts;
  • Understanding of the lending/banking industry;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
