Job Title: Senior Data Scientist / Industrial Data Analyst

The Senior Data Scientist / Industrial Data Analyst, a key member of Laboratory Excellence team, ensures that laboratory operations become data-driven by transforming raw laboratory and sampling information into reliable, meaningful, and actionable insights. Operating at the intersection of lab processes, digital systems, and data governance, this role supports decision-making, improves operational efficiency, enhances competitive intelligence and strengthens data integrity across the digital laboratory ecosystem.

*Laboratory Excellence is a global organization within the Perfumery & Beauty (P&B) business unit of dsm-firmenich. It operates across 30 sites worldwide, supported by a well-connected global community of more than 300 team members. The department ensures sustainable high performance, efficiency, and operational excellence, while creating future-ready capabilities to support P&B’s growth ambitions.

Your key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and harmonize data from LIMS, robots, instruments, BES, and other lab digital systems
• Develop dashboards and KPIs for lab performance (TAT, backlog, OOS/OOT, asset utilization)
• Conduct diagnostic and statistical analyses to identify trends, root causes, and process improvement opportunities
• Create predictive or prescriptive models to optimize lab throughput, compounding accuracy, batch execution performance or fragrance creation patterns identification
• Monitor and improve data quality through rules, validation checks, and exception reporting
• Collaborate with lab operations, fragrance analysts, and digital/IT teams to translate business needs into analytical solutions
• Support user adoption through training, communication, and documentation of analytical tools

You bring

• Min. 5 years of experience in a similar role (industry or consultancy)
• Familiarity with laboratory digital systems (LIMS, BES), BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik), SQL and data transformation tools (R, Python, Hadoop)
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
• Ability to present complex data clearly to non-technical audiences
• Understanding of data governance and data integrity principles
• Master’s degree level
• Fluent in English
