About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

Join a team of talented and ambitious data scientists at ACC, where you can work on real-world problems using extensive data. This is a role for people who want to build intelligent, production-grade solutions within a supportive team environment that values innovation and practical results.

Contribute to a team that uses data science to design, deploy and continuously improve intelligent automation that supports and, in many cases, directly powers ACC’s day-to-day operational decision making and client experience.

We have two fixed-term opportunities available through to June 2027, within the Data Science team, based in Wellington.

About you | Mōu

  • Experienced practitioner: with at least 3–5 years’ practical experience applying data science, machine learning and AI techniques such as natural language processing and predictive modelling to build, test and deploy scalable solutions that deliver lasting impact.

  • Strategic problem solver and ethically grounded translate complex business challenges into effective data-driven solutions while upholding strong privacy, security and ethical data practices, including responsible AI principles and secure production standards and driving continuous improvement.

  • Collaborative team player: enjoy teamwork, engaging with stakeholders and other specialists to deliver effective solutions.

  • Strong stakeholder manager: build trusted relationships with business stakeholders, communicate complex technical ideas clearly and work closely with decision-makers to ensure solutions are relevant, usable and aligned to organisational priorities.

  • Coach and mentor: support the development of junior team members through coaching, feedback and knowledge sharing, helping build capability and confidence across the team.

  • Technical expert: Strong Python and SQL skills, with proven experience in cloud platforms and MLOps covering model versioning, pipeline automation, and deployment frameworks.

The indicative salary range for this role is $101,287 – $131,077, depending on skills and experience, we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution.
