About the team you are joining

Part of the Information and Data
(I&D) Division, the Senior Data Modeler function is responsible for shaping, defining, governing, and evolving
IATA's enterprise and industry data assets, standards, and modelling practices
across the organisation and with external industry stakeholders. The role contributes directly to IATA's
enterprise data strategy and information management roadmap, ensuring
information and data capabilities support organizational priorities, digital
transformation, and future business growth.

The team ensures consistency and
interoperability between Enterprise Information Models, Industry Data Models,
Canonical Data Models, and implemented data solutions, supporting IATA's
ambition to make data accessible, trusted, and actionable across all business
domains.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data
Architecture and Modelling, the Senior Data Modeler is responsible for leading the design and evolution of IATA's data
modelling framework, ensuring alignment with business strategydigital transformation priorities, analytics
capabilities, and AI-enabled initiatives. The role contributes to the
definition of enterprise data architecture priorities and strategic roadmaps
across the organization.

The successful candidate will bring
extensive experience operating within complex enterprise environments and
applying Enterprise Data Modelling and Information Architecture practices to
define and govern Enterprise Information Models, Industry Data Models,
Canonical Data Models, Data Domains, Taxonomies, Semantic Models, and
target-state information architectures.

This role requires a strategic thinker
with a strong background in Enterprise and Industry Data Modelling, capable of
driving innovation, influencing senior stakeholders, leading enterprise-wide change initiatives, and
promoting consistent data architecture and modelling practices across complex
organisational landscapes.

Acting as lead subject matter expert for
enterprise and industry data modelling, the role is responsible for ensuring
consistency across business capabilities, information domains, technology
platforms, and data products. The
role provides strategic advice to senior business and technology leaders and
serves as a key authority for enterprise information architecture decisions.

The role acts as a key bridge between
business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, solution teams, and technology
teams, ensuring that enterprise and industry data models remain aligned with
organisational objectives and are consistently adopted across business and
technology landscapes.

The role is expected to shape and influence enterprise
data architecture decisions, help shape information management roadmaps, and
promote the adoption of enterprise and industry data standards across
programmes and projects. The role contributes directly to functional plans and
transformation initiatives that support departmental and organizational
objectives.

What your day would be like

You will design and evolve data models and data solutions supporting operational systems, analytics platforms, data integration, and AI-enabled use cases.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and external partners to ensure alignment between enterprise standards, industry models, and implemented solutions.

  • Own, govern, define, and evolve Enterprise Information Models, Industry Data Models, Canonical Data Models, Reference Models, Data Domains, Taxonomies, and Semantic Models supporting business and technology initiatives across IATA.
  • Translate business and industry requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models across enterprise, industry, and solution domains, ensuring alignment between enterprise models, industry standards, and system implementations.
  • Design and support AI-ready data structures, semantic layers, knowledge models, and data products for analytics and AI use cases.
  • Establish, maintain, promote, and enforce enterprise data modelling standards, reference models, and information architecture principles aligned with
  • Enterprise Architecture practices and frameworks such as TOGAF. Lead the evolution of enterprise information architecture standards to support strategic business priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Lead engagement with senior business stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, and solution teams to translate business capabilities and strategic objectives into information and data architecture artefacts.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to ensure consistency across enterprise, industry, and solution data models, supporting the adoption of common business definitions, data standards, and modelling practices. Influence senior stakeholders to adopt enterprise-wide information management principles and governance standards.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in enterprise information and data modelling practices and contribute to strategic initiatives across multiple business functions. Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve enterprise data capabilities and support organizational transformation goals.
  • Support the evolution of enterprise semantic models, business information frameworks, and strategic data capabilities that enable analytics, AI, and future business growth.
  • Provide thought leadership on information architecture, semantic modelling, AI-ready data capabilities, and enterprise data strategy across the organization.

We would love to hear from you if

  • 10+ years of experience in Enterprise Data Modelling, Information Architecture, or Industry Data Modelling within large and complex organisations.
  • Proven experience contributing to enterprise strategy, transformation roadmaps, and large-scale organizational change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive adoption of enterprise-wide standards, governance frameworks, and operating models across multiple business functions.
  • Proven experience defining, governing, and maintaining Enterprise Information Models, Enterprise and/or Industry Data Models, Canonical Data Models, Data Domains, Taxonomies, Semantic Models, and Information Architecture frameworks.
  • Experience defining, maintaining, or contributing to industry data models, industry standards, canonical models, taxonomies, or semantic models.
  • Strong experience applying Enterprise Architecture methodologies and frameworks, such as TOGAF, to define and govern target-state information and data architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience working within highly regulated or complex industries such as financial services, banking, insurance, aviation, or similar environments.
  • Experience leading enterprise data modelling initiatives and contributing to enterprise architecture, transformation, or information management programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, with a proven ability to engage business and technology leaders and drive the adoption of enterprise data standards and modelling practices.
  • Experience with enterprise modelling and architecture tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, Erwin, PowerDesigner, Collibra, LeanIX, or equivalent platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern cloud data ecosystems and platforms such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar.
  • Understanding of modern data integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and data platform ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of data strategy, operating model design, data governance operating frameworks, and enterprise transformation methodologies.
  • Experience establishing enterprise data domains, business information capabilities, and cross-functional governance models in global organisations.
