Job Description

CONTRACT ROLE

The Senior Data Modeler plays a crucial role in the organization's data management and analytics function. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data models to support business reporting, analytics, and decision-making processes. The Senior Data Modeler will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, analyze data sources, and develop scalable and efficient data models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, database design, and proficiency in relevant technologies and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data models to support business reporting, analytics, and data visualization requirements.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to understand data requirements and translate them into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Analyze existing data structures, data sources, and business processes to identify opportunities for data model optimization and improvement.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation to ensure data integrity and governance.
  • Implement best practices and standards for data modeling, database design, and data management across the organization.
  • Work closely with database administrators, data engineers, and developers to ensure seamless integration and implementation of data models.
  • Perform data profiling, data cleansing, and data quality assessments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior data modelers and analysts, including mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data modeling, database design, and data management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data modeling, database design, and data management.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing complex data models for enterprise-level applications and systems.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional modeling principles, and data warehousing architectures.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
