Job Description

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement DevOps-aligned data management principles to support enterprise data dissemination.

  • Establish and maintain quality controls, metadata standards, and data validation processes.

  • Develop and manage governance policies, standards, and procedural documentation.

  • Coordinate with engineering, security, and DataOps teams to embed governance requirements into data pipelines.

  • Ensure compliance with data governance and sharing policies across systems.

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.

  • Facilitate training programs for data stewards and stakeholders on governance principles.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for data-related issues and implement preventive measures.

  • Proactively communicate with stakeholders regarding data governance updates and initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data quality and accessibility.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for data governance processes and standards.

  • Support customer inquiries related to data governance and compliance.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in data governance practices.

  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulations related to data privacy and security.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 8 + years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with data catalog, metadata management, lineage, and data quality tools.

  • Experience designing and enforcing data access control and stewardship processes.

  • Experience integrating governance processes into cloud-native data platforms.

  • Experience implementing enterprise data governance frameworks in Federal or enterprise-scale environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • 10+ years of experience in data governance or data engineering roles.

  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.

  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance standards.

  • Certifications in data governance or related areas (e.g., CDMP, DGSP)

  • Experience supporting data governance across multi-enclave DoD environments.

  • SAFe Agilist (SA) or related SAFe certification.

  • Experience operating within SAFe or large-scale Agile frameworks supporting enterprise systems.

  • Experience implementing automated data quality monitoring and drift detection.

  • Experience integrating governance capabilities with Zero Trust data access models.

  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale analytics and AI platforms.

Clearance Required:

  • Must possess an Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility at time of consideration.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
