Job Description

We at Holycode are currently looking for a Senior  Data Engineer (Databricks & Azure) to join one of our Swiss based insurance teams. You will be working in a dynamic, agile environment with strong collaboration across business and technical teams, contributing to high-impact, customer-facing solutions.

 

Strong experience in building and maintaining data pipelines in Databricks, designing scalable medallion/lakehouse architectures, understanding data quality, governance and security concepts. The candidate should also have good knowledge of cloud infrastructure and Databricks-related ecosystem components, along with solid understanding of databases, storages and related performance optimization. 

You'll be joining a team building a modern enterprise Data Platform that supports the entire reinsurance value chain—from underwriting and pricing to actuarial analysis, reserving, and finance. The platform brings together data from multiple enterprise systems, with SAP as the primary source, creating a reliable foundation for analytics, reporting, governance, and future AI-driven solutions.

Our expectations on the Data Platform:
  • Centralize the fragmented data
  • Establish data quality checks
  • Organize data into meaningful domains
  • Gold layers to support business use-cases (mostly apps and reports)
  • Organize data to allow future AI use-cases
  • Create reporting (most likely: Power-BI and/or Databricks)
  • Organize access management
  • Organize governance against Helvetia’s requirements
  • CI/CD pipelines to support the above
  • Easy onboarding of the business users
The infrastructure (Databricks, on Azure) is handled by another team, but some knowledge in that regard is helpful.
We are already ingesting the data and have some initial data model, but it does not consider all of the above.
