Senior Data Engineer – Databricks

Location: Parktown, Johannesburg

Working Model: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the Parktown office (non-negotiable)

Rate: Maximum R700/hour

Level: Senior

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a well-established organisation within the insurance sector.

The successful candidate must have strong, proven, hands-on Databricks experience. This is an absolute non-negotiable requirement, and candidates with only limited exposure to Databricks will not be considered.

Key Requirements

• Strong, recent and hands-on Databricks experience – essential
• Senior-level Data Engineering experience
• Strong Python / PySpark and SQL
• Extensive ETL/ELT and data pipeline development experience
• Experience building and maintaining scalable data platforms
• Strong cloud data engineering exposure
• Data modelling, transformation and optimisation experience
• Performance tuning and troubleshooting of production data solutions
• Ability to operate effectively within complex enterprise environments
• Insurance experience advantageous
• Must be able to work 2–3 days per week onsite in Parktown
• Rate must fall within the stipulated budget
