The Data & Analytics organization is at the forefront of developing and maintaining frameworks, tools,and data products vital to WBD, including flagship streaming product Max and non-streaming products such as Films Group, Sports, News and overall WBD eco-system. Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Sr Data Engineer, you will build a state-of-the-art data platform to solve various data-driven use cases across the organization. This platform will host multiple data products, including but not limited to, Theatrical, Home Entertainment, and Marketing enablement. You will be building a solution in the cloud - handling both streaming and batch data processing, capable of solving any big data initiatives in scope now or in the future. You’re an engineer who not only understands how to use data to answer complex business questions but also how to design resilient reusable pipelines and data objects to best support business intelligence, data science, and self-service analytics. You will manage projects from requirements gathering to implementation of data solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to ensure that business logic is properly represented in the data platform, where it can be used by the wider analytics team to drive business insights and strategy.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior data engineers in the team.

  • Build software across our entire cutting-edge data platform, including event driven data processing, storage, and serving through scalable and highly available APIs, with cutting-edge technologies.

  • Change how we think, act, and utilize our data by performing exploratory and quantitative analytics, data mining, and discovery.

  • Work closely with data analysts and business stake holders to make data easily accessible and understandable to them.

  • Ensure data quality by implementing re-usable data quality frameworks.

  • Develop and enforce data engineering, security, data quality standards through automation.

  • Build frameworks that multiply the productivity of the team and are intuitive for other data teams to leverage.

  • Participate in the creation and support of data engineering standards and best practices.

  • Create systematic solutions for solving data pipeline performance issues: identifying, alerting, and root cause analysis.

What to Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar discipline

  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering

  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and apply them at work to stay ahead of the curve.

  • Experience with general-purpose programming (e.g. Python, Scala or other) dealing with a variety of data structures, algorithms, and serialization formats

  • Expertise in distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Flink or similar.

  • Experience in working with Data platforms like Databricks, snowflake or big query is a must.

  • Expertise in building and managing large volume data processing (both streaming and batch) platform is a must.

  • Strong expertise in data analysis using SQL, with a focus on writing optimized queries to support scalable data pipelines

  • Expertise in OLAP databases such as Snowflake or Redshift.

  • Experience with variety of data Tools & frameworks (example: Apache Airflow, Druid) will be a huge plus.

  • Expert with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions Workflows.

  • Experience with API framework(s) for use in data integrations

  • Expertise in No-SQL – Apache Cassandra, DynamoDB is preferred.

  • Experience with Analytics Tools such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau is preferred.

  • Cloud (AWS) experience is preferred

  • Experience in managing workflows using Agile practices

  • Ability to write clear, concise documentation with a high degree of precision

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and time constraints simultaneously

  • Care for the quality of the input data and how the processed data is ultimately interpreted and used

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Team player and relationship builder; Must have experience working with cross functional teams.

  • Direct to consumer digital business or Content/Media & Entertainment experience is preferred

  • Naturally inquisitive, critical thinker, proactive problem-solver, and detail-oriented.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to act independently and responsibly

  • Self-starter, comfortable initiating projects from design to execution with minimal supervision
