Senior Data Engineer – Azure & Databricks

We are looking for a senior data engineer to support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a modern Azure-based data platform for a leading public-sector organization in Aalst, Belgium
This role focuses on designing and implementing robust data services, building ETL pipelines from Databricks, and contributing to the ongoing evolution of a cloud-based data platform. Working within an Agile environment, you will play a key role in both operational platform support and the delivery of new data engineering projects.
Contract Details
- Location: Aalst, Belgium
- Work Model: Hybrid (minimum one day per week on-site)
- Start Date: 20 July 2026
- End Date: 30 September 2026
- Estimated Workload: Approximately 320 hours

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ETL processes for Azure-based data services.
- Build and optimize data pipelines using Databricks.
- Support the daily operation and monitoring of the Azure data platform.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Design and implement new data engineering solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the Power BI environment.
- Ensure development follows established technical standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within an Agile delivery environment.

Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a data engineer.
- Minimum 4 years' experience with Azure Data Factory.
- Minimum 3 years' experience with Databricks.
- Strong experience designing and developing ETL pipelines.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including
- Experience building scalable cloud-based data solutions.
- Databricks Certification.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Dutch language proficiency at the CEFR C2 level is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise ETL processes.
- Strong database design and development experience.
- Experience delivering projects within government or public-sector organizations.
- Familiarity with enterprise technical standards and governance frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile development teams.
