Within MBRDI, the Connected Cars and Vehicle Data Platforms organization builds large-scale, cloud-native data ecosystems that power vehicle connectivity, telemetry processing, digital services, analytics, and data-driven decision making across the Mercedes-Benz global landscape. Our platforms enable the software-defined vehicle (SDV) journey by transforming raw vehicle, service, and operational data into actionable insights that improve product quality, customer experience, and lifecycle management. Role Overview As a Cloud Data Senior Engineer in the Connected Cars domain, you will play a strategic role in designing, building, and operating high-volume, cloud-based vehicle data platforms . You will take technical ownership of core data platform components , enabling ingestion, processing, governance, and consumption of data generated across the vehicle lifecycle —including connected vehicle telemetry, diagnostics, usage patterns, and service data. The role requires deep expertise in cloud data engineering, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to collaborate wit h global engineering, product, and business teams. You will also act as a mentor and change agent , driving best practices across data engineering and platform delivery. Key Responsibilities • Design and develop high-volume data ingestion frameworks and ETL pipelines for connected vehicle and platform data • Build and maintain cloud-native big data pipelines supporting batch and real-time vehicle data streams • Define and recommend data governance, security standards, and architectural models aligned to vehicle data and platform requirements • Participate in architecture, design, and whiteboard sessions with data engineers, architects, operations, and application teams • Ensure data quality, validation, and control mechanisms across vehicle data inflows and downstream consumers • Manage and use tools across the vehicle data warehouse and analytics ecosystem , including ETL, data quality, reporting, OLAP, and data mining tools • Contribute to the overall vehicle data platform strategy , including cloud architectures, security models, data marts, and data models • Evaluate infrastructure components, cloud services, performance characteristics, and platform scalability • Research emerging connected vehicle, cloud data, and analytics technologies to identify opportunities for platform evolution • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers while ensuring delivery excellence across initiatives Required Skills & Experience (Must-Have) • Strong experience with Cloud Data Lake technologies and distributed / NoSQL data architectures • Proven experience designing architectures for large-scale, real-time data streams (e.g., telemetry, events, signals) • Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies on Azure or AWS • Experience scaling and optimizing cloud-native, vendor, and open-source data platforms • Strong understanding of fault-tolerant architectures and high-availability systems • Solid experience working in Agile data and platform engineering environments • Demonstrated success delivering cloud data warehouse and analytics platforms • Strong problem-solving mindset, including the ability to support critical data platforms when required Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills • Experience with vehicle data, IoT platforms, or connected systems • Exposure to event-driven architectures and streaming technologies • Experience defining and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration experience • Proven mentoring and technical leadership capabilities Key Competencies • • • Excellent communication and collaboration skills Strong ownership mindset for Passion for across engineering, infrastructure, and business teams high visibility, mission critical platforms data, platform engineering, and continuous improvement Why Join Us? • • Work on Connected Cars and vehicle data platforms used globally across Mercedes Play a key role in enabling software • Influence next generation defined vehicles and data cloud data architectures • at enterprise scale Collaborate with highly skilled global teams in an innovation Benz driven mobility driven environment Equal Opportunity Statement Mercedes Benz Research and Development India is committed to diversity and inclusion.
