At RACV, data is at the heart of how we deliver better experiences for our members and customers. We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our enterprise data platform, helping transform complex data into trusted, scalable and high-performing solutions that drive business outcomes across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced data professional who thrives on solving complex challenges, modernising data ecosystems, and delivering reliable, high-quality data products that empower decision-making.

About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, development, maintenance and ongoing evolution of RACV's Enterprise Data Engine and broader enterprise data use. You'll deliver robust data solutions, lead the development of scalable pipelines, and help shape the roadmap for future data capabilities, including AI and machine learning initiatives. The role aligns with RACV's enterprise data engineering function and responsibility for enterprise data products, data lifecycle management, ELT/ETL development, and future platform evolution.

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll turn requirements into sustainable, high-quality solutions while ensuring critical business data remains available, secure and trusted.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build and enhance enterprise-grade data solutions that support strategic business initiatives.
  • Drive improvements across RACV's Snowflake Enterprise Data Engine’s modern data platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Lead quality data modelling practices to ensure trusted and accurate data assets.
  • Develop and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines integrating data from a wide range of internal and external sources.
  • Support AI and machine learning initiatives through expert technical design, implementation and optimisation.
  • Contribute to platform upgrades, architecture improvements and future-state data capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to Data Engineers and Junior Data Engineers.
  • Support delivery planning, estimation, reporting and execution of key data initiatives.
  • Champion best practices across cloud data engineering, automation, CI/CD and operational support.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a technically strong and commercially minded Senior Data Engineer who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years' senior data engineering experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise data solutions.
  • Advanced experience with Snowflake and modern cloud data platforms and tools.
  • Deep knowledge of data warehousing and data architecture.
  • Deep knowledge of data modelling, in particular dimensional fact models.
  • Experience working with large-scale, complex and diverse data sets.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, Scala or similar data technologies.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts and their application within enterprise data environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving capabilities.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience with Snowflake, Fivetran and dbt.
  • Exposure to modern data platform design and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience supporting data governance, data quality and metadata management initiatives.

What We Offer

  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Discounts on selected RACV products and services.
  • A supportive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Opportunities to work with modern cloud, data and AI technologies.
  • Ongoing learning and professional development.
