Sephora SEA’s omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).

The Opportunity

Sephora Southeast Asia is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data team.


As a leading omni-channel business across 9 markets, Sephora SEA is deeply data-driven, with analytics embedded across the organization. Our data ecosystem combines internally built platforms and best-in-class external tools to power personalization, optimize conversion, and maximize marketing performance.


We’re looking for a proactive, commercially-minded engineer to ensure our analysts, machine learning systems, and business users have access to high-quality, reliable data—when they need it.


What You’ll Do

  • Build & Scale Data Platform: Design and maintain scalable data pipelines and a modern data warehouse integrating diverse data sources
  • Own Data Modeling: Create clean, extensible data models that drive consistency and trust across the business
  • Enable Machine Learning: Partner with ML teams to support data pipelines for training and real-time use cases
  • Drive Engineering Excellence: Implement best practices across testing, CI/CD, observability, and data security
  • Enable the Business: Deliver datasets, APIs, and data products that empower analytics, product, and commercial teams
  • Lead & Mentor: Coach engineers, improve team processes, and elevate engineering standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience building and scaling data pipelines and data warehouses
  • Deep expertise in SQL, data modeling, and data architecture
  • Proficiency in modern data stack (e.g., BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, cloud platforms)
  • Experience supporting ML or advanced analytics use cases is a plus
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams

Key Requirements

Must-Have

  • 4+ years in data engineering, building scalable data systems
  • Strong SQL, data modeling, and data warehouse design expertise
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP is preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and a hands-on, solution-oriented mindset
  • Degree in a quantitative field (or equivalent experience)

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with big data pipelines and performance optimization
  • Exposure to machine learning workflows
  • Experience with serverless compute (e.g., ECS, Cloud Run)
  • Familiarity with distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Beam)
