We are currently looking for a passionate Senior Data Centre Technician to join our Brisbane facilities team.  

The purpose of this role is to support the City Facility Manager with the day-to-day operations of the data centre by providing high quality & efficient technical maintenance and customer service. This role will also be the lead in SME for the team of Data Centre Technicians and be required to participate in an on-call roster. 


What you’ll do: 

  • Ensure the safe, secure, and reliable operation of the data centre by managing WHS, security, and critical facility systems.
  • Coordinate customer provisioning requests, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and to a high standard.
  • Manage contractors, workloads, and staffing resources to meet operational demands and SLAs.
  • Plan and maintain cabling infrastructure capacity to support customer growth and ensure service availability.
  • Act as the facility Subject Matter Expert (SME) for communications infrastructure, including cabling, power monitoring, rack locking, and environmental monitoring.
  • Assist with customer equipment installation, facility maintenance, and day-to-day operational activities.
  • Maintain high standards of facility cleanliness, presentation, and operational readiness.
  • Escalate incidents in line with established procedures and support timely resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and enhancing operational processes, policies, and workflows.
  • Lead facility training initiatives and provide technical guidance to the wider team.
  • Prepare operational reports and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver excellent customer service and support business objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and professional development to build technical and operational expertise.
  • Complete additional duties as required by the Facilities Manager.

What you need:

  • Strong customer service skills, with experience managing customer queries and escalations.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of data centre operations, including rack management, IT equipment installation, power, and cooling systems.
  • Experience with structured cabling, cable management, and quality assurance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn about high-density power systems and advanced cooling technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with building management and monitoring systems (desirable).
  • Relevant electrical or telecommunications installation/testing qualifications (desirable).
  • Basic understanding of the ITIL framework (desirable).

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years' experience in a similar role within a critical facility or data centre.
  • Electrical or telecommunications qualifications and hands-on experience.
  • Experience leading a team or working in a team lead capacity.
  • Certificate III in Telecommunications (preferred) systems
