The Database Administrator will manage installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of RDBMS/DBMS platforms (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB). This role ensures availability, security, and data integrity while implementing best practices for backup, recovery, and disaster preparedness.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade MSSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL across development, test, and production environments.• Perform database maintenance including patching, security updates, and version upgrades.• Manage database storage, datafiles and storage optimization.• Configure and maintain AWS RDS instances for MSSQL and MySQL, including parameter groups, option groups, and maintenance windows• Manage MongoDB Atlas clusters and self-hosted MongoDB replica sets across multiple AWS regions• Monitor database health, performance, and storage utilization.• Optimize SQL queries, execution plans, and database parameters.• Implement and maintain database performance monitoring.• Resolve performance bottlenecks (I/O, memory, CPU, network).• Create and maintain database indexes, partitioning strategies, and statistics for query optimization• Design and implement backup and recovery strategies (native backups, logs, differential, compression, AWS RDS snapshots).• Perform backup testing and disaster recovery drills ensuring RTO/RPO compliance.• Implement cross-region replication and disaster recovery strategies for business continuity.• Configure failover mechanisms and monitor replication lag.• Configure and maintain database encryption (TDE), auditing, and compliance monitoring depending on the RDBMS, DBMS platforms.• Coordinate security assessments, vulnerability scans, and patch application with CSU teams.• Diagnose and resolve database issues (connectivity, performance, corruption).• Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 database support and incident response.• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for incidents.• Implement database policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity, security, and availability across all database platforms• Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot database performance across all systems.• Coordinate database upgrades, migrations, and maintenance with minimal disruption.• Implement database security (access controls, encryption, compliance).• Create and maintain documentation for database systems and procedures.• Ensure data privacy compliance (GDPR, HIPAA). • Optimize database design and query performance with application development teams.• Collaborate with CloudOps, infrastructure teams, DevOps on server provisioning, storage, and network requirements.• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and runbooks.• Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to junior DBAs and development teams.

Skills and Experience

Technical Expertise:

• Strong expertise in MSSQL Server versions 2016, 2019, 2022, including Enterprise and Standard editions • Proficiency in MongoDB versions 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, 7.x (Community and Enterprise), including replica sets and sharded clusters • Experience with MySQL versions 5.7, 8.x, and related distributions (ref. MariaDB) • Proficient in database installation, configuration, and version upgrades across on-premises and cloud environments.

• Expert knowledge of backup and recovery strategies using native tools (MSSQL native backups, mongodump/mongorestore, mysqldump etc.,) • Experience with AWS RDS management including parameter groups, automated backups, Multi-AZ deployments, and read replicas

Performance & Optimization:

• Strong T-SQL (MSSQL), JavaScript aggregation framework (MongoDB), and SQL (MySQL) development and optimization skills• Expert knowledge of query execution plans, index strategies, and database performance tuning• Experience with APM and observability platforms (New Relic, DataDog, CloudWatch) for database monitoring • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance bottlenecks including locking, blocking, deadlocks, and resource contention.

High Availability & Security:

• MSSQL: Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, log shipping• MongoDB: Replica sets, automatic failover, read preferences, oplog management• MySQL: Master-slave replication, Group Replication, semi-synchronous replication

Cloud & Automation:

• Hands-on experience with AWS database services (RDS for MSSQL/MySQL, DocumentDB, Aurora MySQL)• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) for database provisioning• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, and Bash for automation and monitoring• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef) for database deployments.

Must haves no Compromises and nice if some had experience of

• Extensive Technical skills about MSSQL* (High) including SSIS, SSRS. Also Good at any of the two: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL • Strong Performance & Tunning skills in SQL and PL/SQL optimization, Database parameter tunning along with index and partition management• Extensive knowledge managing database environments in Cloud and/or on-premises infrastructure.• Demonstrable experience in production 24/7 high-availability multi-site, multi-vendor environments including hosting, data, and information security protection.• Understanding of working with orchestration, containerization and pipeline automation scripting and tooling e.g. Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes etc.awwww2www2wwwwww• Understanding/knowledge of software development, infrastructure, SaaS architecture, and security.• Experience with database monitoring tools (New Relic, SolarWinds, etc.)• Understanding in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
