The Financial Information division within SIX Group is a global provider of financial data and analytics to the global financial services industry. This role sits within the Business-led Product Development division and focuses on business data architecture, ensuring our financial data products meet customer, commercial and regulatory needs. The role partners closely with IT Architecture as a key stakeholder but is not part of the IT function.
We are looking for an experienced data architect to work within the Financial Information Product Delivery group to provide data architecture leadership across the firm to ensure our data products deliver value to our customers and they can be readily maintained and enhanced. This encompasses the design and architecture of logical and physical data models and schemas, data transport mechanisms, metadata management, lineage management, API schema design and enabling SIX financial information to be accessible to AI agents.
• Design, develop and maintain the technology-agnostic, business-aligned canonical/conceptual data models for Financial Information, defining class definitions, standards and association semantics.
• Provide data architecture expertise to all delivery teams to ensure we build data products that meet customer expectations, can be readily maintained and enhanced, and we have a core foundation on which we can readily build new revenue generating products.
• Develop and maintain design, naming conventions, dictionaries, lineage and metadata standards, collaborating with data quality teams to ensure models support validation rules.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to translate complex data concepts and requirements into robust data products that customers want to purchase whilst contributing to the architectural governance process.
• Support the evolution of data distribution models, including API-first delivery and AI data access enablement.
• Hands-on experience designing schemas for relational databases, messaging, data lakes/lakehouses (Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent), and API/message formats (JSON Schema, OpenAPI, Avro, Protobuf). Strong understanding of metadata and lineage management.
• 5+ years of experience, or demonstrated delivery against requirements in data modelling, data architecture, or a closely related discipline within financial services with proficiency in UML data modelling tools such as Sparx EA (ideally), Erwin, PowerDesigner or similar
• Strong understanding of the financial data domain: securities reference data, corporate actions, market data, and regulatory classifications, fixed income would be highly desirable
• Understanding of API design principles (REST, GraphQL) and schema evolution strategies for backward compatibility is essential. Direct experience of making data commercially available to AI agents is desirable.
• Fluent in English (both verbal & writing), German is a plus. It is essential that the person in this role is able to clearly communicate complex concepts and data structures to a wide range of stakeholders.
