This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Analyst in South Africa.

Join a mission-driven fintech environment focused on improving access to fair and inclusive financial services for underserved communities across Africa and beyond. In this role, you will transform complex behavioural, transactional, and operational data into actionable insights that directly influence product strategy, customer experience, and business growth. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Compliance, and Customer Success to drive experimentation and data-informed decision-making. The position offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud-based data infrastructure and advanced analytics tools in a highly collaborative and agile environment. This is an ideal opportunity for a curious and analytical professional who enjoys solving complex business problems, uncovering customer insights, and influencing strategic decisions at scale. You’ll play a key role in shaping data practices, improving operational performance, and supporting innovation across a rapidly growing financial platform.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and experimentation initiatives across the customer lifecycle, including acquisition, conversion, retention, and reactivation strategies.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses into customer behaviour, commercial performance, fraud trends, churn drivers, and product engagement to identify growth opportunities and operational improvements.
  • Build and maintain cohort analyses, retention models, funnel reporting, segmentation frameworks, and customer lifetime value analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Translate complex and ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches and provide clear, actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage self-service dashboards, reports, and visualizations that empower teams with timely and reliable insights.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, and Compliance teams to support business initiatives through data analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to improve data quality, modelling standards, pipeline reliability, and overall data governance practices.
  • Help define and enhance best practices around data collection, experimentation, reporting, and responsible data usage across the organization.
  • Present analytical findings to senior stakeholders in a concise, transparent, and decision-oriented manner.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve analytics capabilities, operational efficiency, and customer understanding through data-driven insights.
  • Requirements:

    • 4+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, or similar analytics-focused role, preferably within fintech, SaaS, e-commerce, or high-volume consumer environments.
    • Advanced SQL expertise with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work confidently with large-scale data models.
    • Strong hands-on experience designing and analyzing experiments, including A/B testing methodologies, statistical significance, sample sizing, and experimentation best practices.
    • Proven experience performing cohort analysis, retention modelling, funnel analysis, segmentation, and behavioural analytics.
    • Experience using Tableau or other major BI platforms such as Power BI, Looker, or Metabase for reporting and dashboard development.
    • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, including libraries such as Pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, or equivalent analytical frameworks.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with the capability to simplify complex findings into actionable business insights.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
    • Familiarity with modern cloud-based analytics environments and data infrastructure, including AWS, dbt, Athena, or similar technologies, is highly advantageous.
    • Comfortable working in agile, cross-functional, and fast-paced environments with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset.
    • Benefits:

      • Opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven fintech organization creating meaningful social and financial impact.
      • Collaborative and inclusive work environment with a globally diverse team culture.
      • Exposure to modern cloud technologies, advanced analytics tools, and large-scale data ecosystems.
      • Career development opportunities with access to challenging and high-impact projects.
      • Flexible and agile working environment that values innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
      • Supportive culture focused on learning, experimentation, and professional growth.
      • Opportunity to work cross-functionally with talented teams across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations.
      • Meaningful work that directly improves customer experiences and financial accessibility for underserved communities.
      • Dynamic workplace culture centered on accountability, innovation, and customer-first thinking.
