Senior Data Analyst - Waterloo, Ontario

What you will do...
▪ Data Engineering and Infrastructure
o Design, develop, and maintain ETL programs to our Analytics databases.
o Create and manage robust, scalable data marts including transactional, in force, new business, quote, claims, billing, and experience datasets.
o Collaborate with IT and Actuarial colleagues to ensure alignment on data architecture and sourcing.
▪ Data Quality and Governance
o Develop processes and standards to ensure data integrity, quality, and availability across all Actuarial databases.
o Conduct regular audits, monitoring, and issue resolution for data anomalies.
o Document data definitions, lineage, and transformation logic to support transparency and repeatability.
▪ Business Analysis and Ad Hoc Data Delivery
o Investigation and execution of complex, time-sensitive ad hoc data requests from Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting, and Executive teams.
o Translate business questions into analytical tasks and provide meaningful, actionable insights.
o Present findings clearly, using appropriate data visualization and narrative storytelling techniques.
▪ System Testing and Actuarial Support
o Support system testing related to rate changes, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with actuarial models and assumptions.
o Collaborate with Actuarial team members to validate test cases and outcomes, and provide insights to improve system changes.
o Assist with model input/output processes and ensure integration with actuarial tools
o Recommend and implement improvements to existing data workflows, tools, and systems.
o Mentor junior analysts or team members as needed and contribute to a culture of data excellence.
What you will bring...
• University degree (Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline).
• A minimum of 2 years experience in a data analysis role, preferably with P&C insurance exposure or a significant educational background in a related discipline.
• Proficiency with SAS, SQL and Database Design concepts.
• Knowledge of Guidewire and P&C insurance is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated strength in oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The salary range for this role is $76,000 - $114,000. The salary for the successful candidate will be determined by various factors including but not limited to an individual’s relevant experience, knowledge, skills, along with internal equity, and market considerations.
