Job Description

About the role

This is a senior technical role within BOQ Group's Cyber Security Operations team, responsible for designing, implementing and optimising enterprise cyber security platforms that protect the organisation's digital services, customers and data. As a subject matter expert, you will lead the delivery of secure, scalable and sustainable cyber security solutions across complex technology environments, ensuring platforms are aligned to strategic security objectives, regulatory obligations and evolving cyber threats. Working closely with security, architecture, engineering and technology teams, you will provide technical leadership and drive best-practice cyber security engineering outcomes across the organisation.

A key focus of this role is the implementation, integration and ongoing management of cyber security capabilities across both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments. You will leverage your deep cloud security expertise to design and deploy security controls, automate processes, strengthen cloud governance, and enhance visibility and threat detection across multi-cloud platforms. From cloud security posture management and identity protection to endpoint, network and data security solutions, you will play a critical role in delivering robust security outcomes that support BOQ Group's cloud transformation journey.

You will also lead the delivery of strategic cyber security initiatives, solve complex engineering challenges, influence technology decisions, and partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to uplift security maturity. As a senior member of the team, you will mentor engineers, champion secure-by-design principles, and help shape the future of BOQ Group's cyber security capability through innovative, automation-driven and pragmatic security solutions.

About you

You are a highly experienced cyber security professional with a passion for building and securing modern cloud environments. You bring deep technical expertise across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), with a proven ability to design, implement and manage complex security platforms that protect enterprise technology ecosystems. You thrive in hands-on engineering environments and have strong experience delivering cloud security solutions spanning identity, endpoint, network, data protection, threat detection and security automation.

You have a strong track record of implementing and optimising enterprise security technologies, with the ability to architect scalable and sustainable solutions that reduce risk while enabling business outcomes. Comfortable working across both cloud and hybrid environments, you understand secure-by-design principles, infrastructure-as-code, automation and modern DevSecOps practices. Your technical depth is complemented by your ability to solve complex problems, make sound risk-based decisions and provide expert guidance on cyber security engineering best practice.

Equally important is your ability to influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders. You can confidently engage with engineers, architects, technology leaders, vendors and service providers, translating complex technical concepts into practical outcomes. As a senior cyber professional, you enjoy mentoring others, driving continuous improvement and contributing to the development of a high-performing security engineering culture within a regulated enterprise environment.
