Life at Vector means being part of something bigger.

Here, your work matters. We keep the lights on across Auckland, and each of us plays a key role in the future of the energy industry, building a legacy of clean power for future generations.

We’re embracing opportunities to innovate, collaborating with leading names globally to develop, adopt and share cutting-edge technologies that drive energy sustainability and efficiency.

And while we shape the future, we prioritise yours. Enjoy a comprehensive salary and benefits package, hybrid working and flexibility with hours, and be part of a diverse, inclusive culture that values fresh thinking and career growth.

Culture that powers progress

Hear from our people on what they enjoy most about Vector, why they joined and why they stay.

The role

As a Senior Customer Connections Specialist, you’ll take the lead in resolving complex customer connection requests, acting as the initial escalation point for challenging queries and ensuring high‑quality, accurate and timely outcomes for our customers. You’ll guide daily workflow, support planning meetings and help stabilise escalations by applying sound judgement and advanced problem‑solving across a wide range of connection scenarios.

A key feature of this role is its strong development and leadership focus. You’ll coach and mentor Customer Connections Specialists, including supporting and training new team members. This is a role where you’ll continually deepen your technical expertise, expand your understanding of the end‑to‑end ICP lifecycle, and directly influence the capability, confidence and performance of the wider team. Because of this hands‑on leadership responsibility, consistent onsite presence during the week is required.

You’ll also contribute directly to team deliverables by helping manage high volumes of work, ensuring service levels are met, supporting cross‑functional tasks and working collaboratively across the business to resolve issues. Your work will help lift quality, reduce escalations and create a more seamless experience for our customers.

Who are we looking for?

  • Extensive experience in utilities, energy retail, metering or similar complex operational environments, with strong technical and customer‑operations understanding
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capability, particularly when dealing with complex or ambiguous cases
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train, coach and support others – explaining technical concepts in a clear, accessible way
  • High resilience, accuracy and ownership mindset, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑moving environment
  • Willingness and ability to work predominantly onsite to provide hands‑on mentoring, escalation support and leadership.

Why Vector?

We know that great energy starts with great people, and we’re committed to creating an environment where you can be, do and achieve your best:

  • Enhance your wellbeing, protect your future and empower your personal and professional growth through our extensive benefits package
  • Supercharge your career through internal opportunities, own your own development plan and drive your learning and growth
  • Join a company embracing innovation and collaborating with leading names worldwide to develop and adopt cutting-edge technologies, like X The Moonshot Factory
  • We value diverse perspectives, which drive innovation and creativity. We encourage everyone to bring their full selves to work, embracing ideas that challenge and inspire
  • Build a legacy doing work that matters – we’re keeping the lights on across Auckland, and driving a sustainable energy future for New Zealand.
