Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Credit Manager, NSW

What’s the role?

As a Senior Credit Manager, you’ll play an important role in helping Westpac make well-informed credit decisions for commercial banking customers across Australia. You’ll work independently from relationship management teams, bringing clear judgement, commercial thinking and a strong understanding of credit risk to each transaction

You’ll review and approve credit applications within your delegated authority, support more complex transactions that require higher-level approval, and help ensure decisions are well researched, balanced and aligned to Westpac’s credit standards, risk appetite and regulatory requirements. You’ll also keep a close eye on portfolio quality, provide practical credit risk guidance to business and support teams, and help senior stakeholders stay informed about material risks, emerging issues and key transactions.

Work type and location: Flexible, permanent, full-time role based in NSW.

What do I need?

You’ll bring sound credit judgement, strong commercial thinking and the confidence to make balanced decisions in a fast-paced banking environment.

  • Strong experience assessing and approving commercial credit transactions.
  • A good understanding of credit risk, underwriting standards, risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to balance customer needs, business outcomes and sound risk management.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and identify emerging risks.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide practical advice and explain credit decisions to stakeholders.
