Job Description

Talen Energy is currently seeking a Senior Credit Analyst. In this role you will be responsible for monitoring and managing the liquidity and counterparty risk of the company. This includes assessing potential future exposures along with the associated collateral requirements, negotiating credit support agreements, and collaborating with various groups across the company to identify and mitigate risks consistent with the company’s risk policy. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and provide expertise to help improve the credit processes and policies of the team.

At Talen Energy, your work fuels progress. In this role, you’ll do more than contribute you’ll drive meaningful change by:

  • Manage daily credit exposure and prepare risk reports to all stakeholders and management.
  • Conduct creditworthiness assessment based on ongoing and real time developments and market condition changes for all existing and new counterparties. Provide recommendations on establishment of controls or appropriate limit setting.
  • Manage collateral for bilateral and cleared transactions which involves interaction with FCM, traders, and management.
  • Model credit metrics including PFE to assist with risk analyses across the company’s portfolio and on the counterparty level.
  • Manage ISO protocols from a credit perspective, including reporting and collateral requirements.
  • Negotiate and track all company guarantees.
  • Maintain all credit related data within the ETRM system.
  • Independently review credit terms in enabling agreement and credit support documents across various business lines; experience with lien-based agreements preferred (ISDAs, NAESB, ICA, PPA, etc.)
  • Ad hoc modeling, reporting, and analysis.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business-related discipline
  • Deep understanding of financial statements
  • Master’s Degree is a plus
  • 8+ yrs. credit experience in commodities, power experience is ideal
  • Prior experience managing exchange exposures preferred
  • Strong Excel, SQL, and MicroStrategy experience
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Exceptional organizational skills (prioritize, manage multiple deadlines, flexibility within dynamic fast-paced business environment)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to perform above responsibilities as well as other finance related activities as required
  • Must be proactive with the ability to work independently with high attention to detail
