Job Description

Senior Credit Analyst

As a Senior Credit Analyst, you’ll be at the heart of Heartland Bank’s business‑lending engine, shaping well‑reasoned, high‑quality lending applications across a portfolio that spans everything from everyday business needs to complex, high‑value transactions above $1.0m.

This is a role for someone who enjoys digging into the detail and connecting the commercial dots. You’ll apply sharp judgemental credit analysis to both straightforward applications and the kind of nuanced, commercially driven deals that require real analytical flair. Every submission you prepare will showcase:

  • Insightful financial analysis that gets to the real story behind the numbers

  • Clear, balanced credit‑risk assessment that highlights what matters

  • Transparent identification of risks and mitigants

  • Recommendations that align with the Bank’s risk appetite while supporting great customer outcomes

You’ll be a trusted voice in the credit process, someone who can see the opportunity, understand the risk, and articulate both with clarity and confidence.

And throughout it all, you’ll operate with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to Heartland Bank’s mātāpono and brand values, ensuring every decision reflects who we are and what we stand for.

What you will bring

You bring strong analytical judgement and the ability to produce clear, accurate lending applications across exposures above and below $1.0m. You know how to gather, validate, and interpret financial information, turning statements, credit reports, and supporting documents into meaningful insights.

Your advanced Excel and financial‑modelling skills support robust financial analysis, including serviceability, cash‑flow assessment, and security coverage. You confidently identify key risks, recommend practical mitigants, and support accurate credit‑risk grading.

You work collaboratively with Brokers, Relationship Managers, Credit Managers, and Operations to deliver timely, high‑quality outcomes, communicating with clarity and professionalism. With a solid understanding of business structures and security types, you navigate complex credit issues with an enquiring, analytical mindset.

In a fast‑moving environment, you prioritise effectively, maintain pace, and ensure all activity aligns with AML/CFT requirements, internal policy, and Heartland Bank’s risk appetite.
