Job Description

The hire will be responsible for managing the structured lending transactions from origination to closing.

Main responsibilities include:

1) Complex or non-standard credit transactions:
• Lead, design and structure solutions for complex or non-standard credit transactions as per agreed Target Operating Model for Credit Solutions. Establish and maintain strong internal relationship with diverse stakeholders to grow the loan book.
• Act as First Line of defence by providing advice and guidance to CROs on credit transactions as well as lead discussions with the Credit Risk Approval Team for assessment and approval.
• Provide support to CROs in prospect and client calls and visits in discussing credit terms.
• Underwrite credit memo which includes presenting the transaction to EFG’s Credit Committees to obtain the necessary approval.
• Discuss, negotiate and review the credit terms with Credit Approval and Legal Teams to ensure the terms and conditions are represented in the Finance Documents.

2) Credit related product management:
• Responsible for delivering the KPIs relating to Structured Lending in Hong Kong
• Engage and discuss with CROs and Market Group / Business Heads to pro-actively identify credit related business opportunities.
• Takes the lead and ownership for the development of new credit related product initiatives.
• Engage with the Regional Business Head to formulate and adapt the Credit product strategy for the HK Branch and monitor execution.

3) Credit process:
• Ensure compliance to credit and control procedures and adherence to the EFG’s risk appetite guidance.
• Able to anticipate and provide feasible solutions to complete the credit transaction. Provide guidance to CROs / MGHs on matters relating to credit transactions.
• Assist with reporting and monitoring of covenants for specific key transactions.
• As and when required, participate in the interactions between Origination, the Credit Team, and other stakeholders on credit related initiatives.
• Contributes to the development of tools and new processes that will lead to a higher degree of efficiency in the credit value chain.
• As and when required, provides input on credit policies / risk methodologies and directives whereby Credit Office is the owner.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business, Finance or comparable degree.
• Relevant professional accreditations will be advantageous.
• More than 10 years of strong credit management experience in a Private Bank or a Commercial Bank /Investment Bank.

Preferred Skills

• Expert knowledge of structured lending including single stock, illiquid assets and mortgage lending.
• Well versed in financial services products and local regulatory requirements
• Experience with underwriting other asset classes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a dynamic environment
• Strong ability to communicate, read and write in English fluently
• Proficiency in Business Mandarin is preferred.
