This role is responsible for independently evaluating the financial strength, creditworthiness, and risk profile of financial counterparties and key vendors; coordinating workflow across the counterparty review process; mentoring junior analysts; and delivering high‑quality analyses and presentations to senior management and governance committees.

The Senior Analyst serves as a key contributor to risk decision‑making, providing informed recommendations on risk ratings, exposure limits, product eligibility, emerging risks, and industry trends.

Advanced Counterparty Financial Analysis

  • Independently perform financial and risk analyses of banks, broker‑dealers, asset managers, insurers, municipalities, and other financial counterparties.
  • Lead CAMEL‑based assessments, including capital adequacy, asset quality, management capability, earnings stability, and liquidity.
  • Evaluate audited financial statements, regulatory filings, rating‑agency research, and internal or external reports to identify key risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigants.
  • Develop and deliver recommendations on counterparty risk ratings, exposure limits, and product eligibility.

Vendor Financial Evaluations

  • Lead or oversee financial assessments of key vendors as required by corporate policies, ensuring timely, consistent, and high‑quality evaluations.

Market‑Data Monitoring & Research

  • Oversee development and use of monitoring tools using Bloomberg, S&P, or similar platforms to track market indicators such as equity performance, CDS spreads, bond spreads, rating changes, and regulatory actions.
  • Identify emerging risks at the counterparty, sector, and macro levels and escalate issues to management with actionable insights.

Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare and present analyses to management committees and executive audiences, including counterparty approvals, industry updates, emerging‑risk briefings, and ad‑hoc research projects.
  • Produce clear, concise, and accurate written reports and presentations for senior leadership, risk committees, and regulatory exams as needed.

Oversight, Workflow Management & Mentorship

  • Provide day‑to‑day oversight, coaching, and mentoring to junior analysts, including review of their analyses, feedback on risk assessments, and skill development.
  • Coordinate workflow with the manager and junior analyst to ensure timely completion of counterparty reviews, renewals, new requests, and monitoring updates.
  • Perform quality control on analytical work products, ensuring adherence to methodology, policy, and documentation standards.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, methodology enhancements, or automation efforts related to data, reporting, or analysis frameworks.

Collaboration & Research

  • Serve as a senior liaison across business units and other key stakeholders involved in counterparty monitoring, approvals, and ongoing risk management.
  • Participate in and may lead special projects, regulatory remediation efforts, or risk‑management initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, engineering, mathematics, or other analytical disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience in counterparty credit risk, financial institution analysis, capital markets credit, corporate credit, or related credit‑risk functions.
  • Demonstrated expertise interpreting financial statements and performing advanced ratio and trend analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of capital‑markets products and financial‑institution risk drivers.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex topics to senior management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a time‑sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with independence, ownership, and sound judgment.

Preferred

  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, or similar market‑data platforms.
  • Experience with data visualization or dashboard tools.
  • Prior experience presenting to governance committees or regulatory examiners.
