Job Purpose:
India is a key growth market for Petcare and PN/RC RGM regions specifically with a complex and evolving legal and regulatory environment. This role serves as the strategic legal business partner to Pet Nutrition and Royal Canin India, enabling compliant growth while identifying and managing legal risk. The role provides pragmatic, commercial legal counsel to support the business’s long-term ambitions in India.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Legal Counsel:Act as a strategic business partner, offering legal guidance and direction to Petcare businesses in India, primarily for Pet Nutrition (PN) and Royal Canin (RC).
Corporate Governance and Compliance:Oversee corporate governance, secretarial compliances, and CSR compliance for the Mars Petcare segment, including managing board meetings, and ensuring all records and returns are maintained.
Contract and Litigation Management:Handle all aspects of contracts, from templating and negotiation to risk management. This also includes managing litigation, legal notices, and challenges before the Advertising Standards Council of India.
Crisis Management and Internal Committees:Serve as the Legal Lead for the Crisis Management Team and as a member of the Internal Complaints Committee for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with various teams such as Sales, S&F, Ethics & Compliance, P&O, and Regulatory to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring all business operations and projects are within the legal framework.
Leadership and IT Enablement:Build legal capabilities within the business, manage legal resources, and drive the digitization of compliance management and other legal processes.

The position requires an attorney with a minimum of 8+ years of experience
Generalist lawyer with the ability to handle the broad spectrum of day–to-day legal affairs of the business and corporate secretarial compliance.
