Senior Cost Accountant (Machine Shop / Manufacturing)

$80,000 – $105,000

Reports to: Controller
Status: Exempt

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Cost Accountant to support a growing machine shop / manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on role where accounting directly impacts production. You’ll work closely with operations to track costs, improve visibility into the business, and help drive better decisions on the shop floor.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage general ledger activity and prepare journal entries
• Reconcile key accounts including inventory, fixed assets, and accruals
• Analyze job costs, production spend, and overhead allocation
• Partner with production and operations to understand cost drivers
• Support inventory processes including cycle counts and physical inventory
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to production
• Support audits and financial reporting
• Identify and implement process improvements within accounting and operations

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of accounting experience (manufacturing strongly preferred)
• Experience with cost accounting, inventory, and job costing
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAGE, Synchro, or similar is a plus)
• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter who can take ownership and drive improvements
