Senior Correctional Education Officer

Multiple Regions – North, South, Metro and West

Salary: $132,839 - $136,947 pa plus superannuation and leave loading

Position Type: 4 x Ongoing, Full Time

Location: Various Locations across Multiple Regions (North, South, Metro, West)

Your role

As a Senior Correctional Education Officer with Corrective Services NSW, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality accredited education programs within a correctional environment. You will lead operational, compliance and people management functions to ensure effective learning and alignment with regulatory standards to support reduced reoffending and improved community safety.

There are currently four Senior Correctional Education Officer positions available within four regions, you will be required to nominate your preferred region – North, South, Metro and West.

Applicants may nominate their preferred home base location from the correctional centres listed below. These locations are provided solely for the purpose of selecting a home base and do not represent all correctional centres within the region. Successful applicants must be willing and able to travel to any correctional centre within their allocated region as required.

Note: The locations listed above are available home base locations only. The role requires travel throughout the region, including to correctional centres and other work locations not listed in this table.

What you’ll do

As part of this role, you will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Lead education service delivery by managing staff and resources to support accredited Language Literacy Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) in external and General Education programs within the centre
  • Oversee student assessment and placement processes, ensuring learners are appropriately evaluated and enrolled into suitable training pathways
  • Ensure compliance and quality assurance by maintaining up-to-date Training and Assessment Strategies aligned with ASQA and RTO requirements
  • Manage staff performance and capability, including Performance Development Plans (PDPs) and Trainer and Assessor Profiles, ensuring currency and compliance
  • Coordinate operational workforce planning, including leave management, timesheets, and training calendars
  • Drive business operations and reporting, ensuring accurate, timely data and adherence to KPIs, milestones, and regulatory obligations
  • Support staff development and performance improvement through professional development initiatives, classroom observations, and timely issue resolution
  • Coordinate onboarding of new staff across the assigned region, ensuring smooth integration into AEVTI education teams
  • Oversee curriculum governance, including the review, development, and validation of training and assessment resources
  • Ensure accurate administrative practices, including recording learner participation, progress, achievements, and managing student complaints in line with policy and systems

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education from a recognised university; or
  • Graduate Diploma (or higher) in Education, from a recognised university; and qualification (degree, diploma or certificate) from a recognised university (or other recognised tertiary education institution) in a discipline other than education; together with experience in adult education, as approved by the Secretary or delegate
  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor
  • Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel to various centres within preferred region as part of the role

Desirable Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing an education team, including coaching, mentoring and professionally supervising educators.
  • Current knowledge of adult LLND andragogy and assessment practices, underpinned by demonstrated experience in LLND program delivery and maintained through recent teaching, ongoing professional learning, or contributions to the field.
