About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate, Regulatory & Disputes Legal, you will be a trusted adviser to Origin's People & Culture function and senior business leaders, providing strategic employment, industrial relations and people related advice across Origin’s diverse business.

In this role, you'll partner with stakeholders at all levels to navigate complex workplace matters, manage legal and regulatory risk, and support the delivery of Origin's people and business objectives. You'll combine technical expertise with commercial judgement to deliver practical, solutions-focused advice in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

This is an opportunity to work on a broad range of high-impact matters, including enterprise bargaining, industrial relations strategy, workplace disputes, employment litigation, workplace investigations, regulatory compliance, management of psychosocial hazards and risk and organisational change initiatives. You'll also play an important role in building capability across the business through proactive risk management, training and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice in relation to employment and industrial relations and other people related matters, including workplace compliance, regulatory matters and the management of psychosocial hazards and risk.
  • Support enterprise bargaining, industrial relations strategy, and the interpretation of awards, enterprise agreements and industrial instruments.
  • Manage employment disputes, litigation, investigations and Fair Work Commission matters, including engagement with external counsel.
  • Partner with People & Culture and business leaders to identify and mitigate legal risks while delivering practical, commercially focused solutions.
  • Build organisational capability through training, stakeholder engagement and proactive legal risk management.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Legal team through mentoring, process improvement and best-practice legal service delivery.

About You

You are an Australian-qualified lawyer with significant employment and industrial relations expertise and a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders.


You will bring:

  • 10+ years' PQE in employment and industrial relations law.
  • Extensive experience advising on complex employment and industrial relations matters.
  • Strong experience developing bargaining strategies and drafting enterprise agreements.
  • Experience managing Fair Work Commission matters and employment-related disputes.
  • Expertise advising on compliance with awards, enterprise agreements and industrial instruments.
  • Experience advising on the management of psychosocial hazards and risks.
  • Strong commercial judgement and a solutions-focused approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.
  • Experience working in-house or undertaking significant client secondments will be highly regarded.
