Albemarle is hiring for a Senior Corporate Counsel. This position is hybrid and located in Charlotte, NC.

The Senior Corporate Counsel will serve as a key legal advisor supporting the Company’s public company obligations, corporate governance framework, and strategic financial and corporate initiatives. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Corporate and Employment, this role partners closely with Legal leadership, Finance, Investor Relations, Treasury, and senior business leaders to deliver practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced, global environment.
This is a highly visible role, offering the opportunity to influence enterprise-level decision-making while helping scale and modernize corporate legal processes.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Public Company Reporting & Disclosure
Advise on SEC and NYSE compliance matters, disclosure controls, and public company best practices.
Draft and manage SEC filings for review by the Deputy GC, including Forms 3, 4, 8-K, and SD.Partner cross-functionally on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and SK-1300 disclosures.
Lead drafting of the annual proxy statement in close collaboration with the Deputy GC, Investor Relations, Total Rewards, and senior leadership.
Review earnings releases, investor presentations, and external communications to ensure accurate, compliant, and consistent disclosure.
Corporate Governance & Board Support
Support the Deputy GC in management of the Company’s Board of Directors and committees by assisting with preparation of resolutions, minutes, and governance materials.
Advise on corporate governance matters and evolving regulatory expectations.
Partner with internal stakeholders to strengthen subsidiary governance globally, including training, documentation, and process improvement initiatives.
Financial Transactions & Enterprise Support
Collaborate with Legal, Treasury, and Finance teams to support financing and credit arrangements, intercompany agreements, and related compliance matters (including Dodd-Frank and EMIR).
Provide legal guidance on corporate structuring, intercompany matters, and transactional support as the business evolves.
Operational Excellence & Legal Innovation
Leverage technology and process improvements to drive efficiency, scalability, and cost-effective legal service delivery.
Contribute to broader Legal Department initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Whatyoubring
Qualifications & Experience
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.
7+ years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or public company in-house environment.
Strong working knowledge of SEC reporting. Experience with public company governance and corporate finance matters.
Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to senior leaders and non-legal stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
High integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
Interest in professional growth and expanding scope as part of a developing legal organization.
