As our Student Advising team continues to grow,we'reseeking a Senior Coordinator to lead this newly established function and help shape the future of student support within the College of Business and Law.

As the Senior Coordinator, Student Advising,you'lllead the delivery of high-quality, holistic advising services for students and key stakeholders.You'lldrive collaboration, continuous improvement and evidence-informed practice to ensure student and stakeholder needs are met.You'llprovide day-to-day supervision, coaching and performance oversight of the Student Advisors, ensuring the delivery oftimely, consistent,high-qualityandaccurateinformation, advice and support across the student lifecycle, aligned withCollegepriorities, RMIT Connect and broader University policies and processes.

You'llexercise substantial professional judgement to oversee both administrative and developmental advising practice, ensuring advising approaches empower students to clarify their academic, personal and career aspirations, connect withappropriate supportservices,recogniseand navigate barriers to success, and develop effective action plans.You'llmonitorstaff performance against agreed benchmarks, lead capability building and professional development initiatives for the advising team, and ensureaccurateadvising records, reporting and compliance with ethical and professional standards.

As an active member of the broader Student Lifecycle & Experience leadership team,you'llwork closely with Managers and other leaders to ensure student-centredadvising and customer service remain at the forefront of all processes,systemsand initiatives.You'lldesign and coordinateadvisingprograms and interventions, contribute to policy and process improvement, and lead cultural and work practice changes that support operationalobjectives, enhance student engagement,successand retention, and strengthen collaboration with Schools, centralservicesand other stakeholders.

To be successful in this role,you'llhave:

  • A passion for delivering exceptional student-centredservices, with experience leading advising, customerserviceor student support teams in a complex environment.

  • Proven experience coaching,mentoringand developing staff while fostering a positive, high-performingand values-driven team culture.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Schools, centralservicesand other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.

  • The ability toanalysedata,policyand best practice toidentifyopportunities for improvement and implement initiatives that enhancethe studentexperience.

  • Excellent judgement,initiativeand problem-solving skills, with the confidence to manage competing priorities and navigate complex student matters.

  • Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, recommendations,briefingsand other professional documentation for a range of audiences.

  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and embedding new ways of working that improve service quality,consistencyand efficiency.

  • Confidence working with digital technologies, case managementsystemsand data tools, and supporting others to adopt new systems and ways of working.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated awareness of, and strong knowledge in, contemporary student advising theories and approaches, including appreciative and developmental advising, strengthsbased advising, and advising as teaching, with the ability to integrate these frameworks into practice to foster student agency, belonging, academic success and holistic development across diverse postgraduate and undergraduate cohorts.
