JOB TITLE: Senior Coordinator, Food Security and Livelihood TEAM/PROGRAMME: POD LOCATION: Nuwakot GRADE: 3 CONTRACT TYPE: 6 months with possible of extension Child Safeguarding Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post holder may require having a regular contact with or access to children or young people because the position holder works in the implementation of the country programme and are visiting programme frequently.

The Senior Coordinator - Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) will provide technical oversight, coordination, regular FSL situation update and reporting for food security, livelihoods, Cash and Voucher Assistance, and early recovery interventions within the emergency response and recovery. The position will ensure that affected households and communities receive timely, appropriate, and evidence-based support to address immediate food needs while strengthening recovery of livelihood. The role will support in assessments, programme design and take lead in implementation, coordination, monitoring, and recovery planning in accordance with humanitarian standards and organizational priorities.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- With guidance support from Livelihood Specialist lead field assessments of food security and livelihood needs among affected households and communities to identify priority populations, geographic areas, vulnerabilities, and response gaps.
- Assess the impact of the emergency on different aspects of livelihoods such as household income, l markets, agriculture, livestock, and other productive livelihood assets.
- Collect, analyse, and regularly update data on food security conditions, livelihood disruptions, coping mechanisms, market functionality, and community priorities.
- Contribute sector-specific information and analysis to situation reports, humanitarian assessments, and programme planning processes.
- Conduct and/or oversee market assessments including Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) feasibility in coordination with relevant specialists and partners.
- Recommend appropriate interventions modality including cash assistance, food assistance, livelihood grants, agricultural production inputs, livestock support and market-based assistance.
- Provide technical guidance on the transition from immediate food-security assistance to livelihood recovery and to development
- Ensure FSL interventions are evidence-based, inclusive, gender-responsive and appropriately targeted to the most vulnerable households and contributing to children’s wellbeing.
- Participate actively in relevant FSL Cluster meetings, technical working groups, and coordination forums organized at field level and ensure Save the Children’s progress update
- Support joint assessments, analyses, and response planning initiatives with partners and coordination bodies.
- Regularly collect local market information and provide update in situation and progress update meeting
- Strengthen collaboration and information sharing among stakeholders to maximize response effectiveness and avoid duplication.
- Provide technical guidance, and mentoring to field teams, partners, and community-based groups involved in food security and livelihood interventions.
- Support to build staff and partner capacity on food security and livelihood assessments, livelihoods programming, market-based approaches, CVA, and emergency response standards.
- Ensure programmes uphold the dignity, rights, and safety of affected individuals and communities.
- Ensure FSL is integrated across the wider humanitarian response, including education, child protection, WASH, health & nutrition and shelter/settlement, and other sectoral interventions.
- Ensure field information is collected using approved tools, formats, and reporting templates.
- Verify information from multiple sources before sharing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure sensitive information is handled appropriately and in accordance with data protection requirements and SCI’s principles
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION:
- A minimum of 4 years’ (3 years for GSI ) experience in emergency food security and livelihood programming and implementation support or related areas with the master’s degree in agriculture, rural development, social science or relevant areas or 6 years ( 4 years for GSI group) of experience in food security and livelihood programming and implementation support with bachelor’s degree in agriculture, rural development, social science or relevant areas
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Strong technical expertise in emergency food security, livelihoods, and market-based programming with key expertise on CVA
- Experience coordinating with government authorities, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, and partner organizations.
- Strong experience in assessments, analysis, reporting, and information management.
- Knowledge of international child protection frameworks, safeguarding standards, and humanitarian principles.
- Ability to travel extensively to flood-affected and remote locations.
- Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and spoken
- Ability to collect and verify information under tight deadlines.
- Commitment to the aims and principles of SCI in particular, a good understanding of the SCI mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
- Ability to establish good working relationships and positively contribute to a team
- Ability to work in a stressful and changing environment with limited resources
