What Financial Assistance Counseling (RCM) contributes to Cardinal Health

Practice Operations Management oversees the business and administrative operations of a medical practice.

Financial assistance counselors guide patients through their healthcare financial obligations. The Senior Coordinator, Financial Counseling is responsible for managing patients' authorizations for the medical care they receive while at South Bay Radiation Oncology Center. In addition, they will help cover front desk duties such as checking patients in, answering phones, verifying demographics, and other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Authorization for radiation, consultations and all of the imaging the providers request
  • Research and re-submit denials from billing department
  • Verify patients’ benefits information including their deductibles and co-insurance information
  • Collecting time of service payments prior to the patient receiving their treatment or setting up a payment plan for the patient prior to treatment services
  • Will assist and help cover front desk duties including check in, check out, answering phones, scheduling appointments
  • Pull medical records to make sure patients have labs, testing, imaging or anything that the provider needs prior to their appointment
  • Other duties as assigned by management​


Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of experience, preferred
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Prior experience working within healthcare financial services
  • At least 1 year of prior medical office experience, preferred
  • Medical knowledge, preferred

Anticipated hourly range: $20.90 per hour - $33 per hour
