About the Job

This role will provide day-to-day coordination, compliance monitoring, and implementation support across the organisation, ensuring that statutory obligations, EY deliverables, internal policies, delegated authorities, and compliance requirements are consistently implemented, monitored, and followed through.

The role will also help ensure that changes in applicable regulatory requirements are appropriately reflected in processes, documentation, and practices. It will work across Better Cotton teams, external working partners, banks, regulators, vendors, and other service providers to support the effective functioning of the organisation and ensure that actions and obligations are followed through to completion.

The Challenge

Looking ahead to 2030, we are targeting reducing GHG emissions from cotton production by half, big cuts in synthetic pesticide use, improve soil health across our network, improve farm income and support women’s empowerment among farmers and farm workers.

Responsibilities

  • We are seeking a motivated Senior Coordinator – Compliance & Operations to join our FinanceFunction In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Provide legal and compliance support on day-to-day operational, contractual, regulatory, and organisation-related matters.
  • Review, draft, and coordinate contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal or compliance-related documents.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local laws, labour laws, regulatory requirements, statutory obligations, and organisational policies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance frameworks, processes, and internal controls.
  • Support audits, investigations, and remediation actions related to compliance or legal matters.
  • Maintain records of assets, legal documents, approvals, notices, and compliance reports.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders and relevant Better Cotton teams to ensure compliance requirements, statutory obligations, and agreed actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel, regulators, consultants, statutory bodies, banks, vendors, and other service providers as required.
  • Support contract, agreement, policy, and legal document administration.
  • Monitor compliance processes, internal controls, and relevant regulatory developments to ensure ongoing adherence.
  • Support procurement activities, including IT assets, and ensure adherence to approved policies and SOPs.
  • Support banking, documentation, and administrative requirements that remain the responsibility of Better Cotton.
  • Identify legal and compliance risks and recommend practical mitigation measures.
  • Work closely with People & Culture, Finance, Operations, and leadership teams to ensure legal and compliance alignment in business decisions.
  • Support the internal governance model to ensure day-to-day operations and approvals are aligned with organisational requirements.
  • Support training, awareness, and communication initiatives on compliance, ethics, and policy requirements.

Experience

the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Law, Human Resources, Compliance, or Business Administration will be preferred.
  • Additional certification or training in compliance, labour law, governance, or corporate administration will be an advantage
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Uses analytics to optimise workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Strategic Thinking: Aligns activities and resources with organisational priorities.
  • Effective Communication: Tailors messages to engage, inform, and influence varied audiences.

  • Development of technical guidance and training materials for creating high quality technical guidance documents

  • Excellent computer and IT skills, including: Word; PowerPoint; Excel, Outlook for collaborating in virtual environment

Working arrangements

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based either in Delhi. Better Cotton Initiative offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm. The position may require limited international travel.
