We are pleased to announce that px Group have taken over operations of the Shetland Gas Plant (SGP) and associated West of Shetland infrastructure, marking the start of a strong new partnership with Serica Energy plc.

The Shetland Gas Plant is a key part of the Greater Laggan Area energy system, processing gas from offshore fields West of Shetland and transporting it via the SIRGE and FUKA pipelines to the St Fergus Gas Terminal, where it enters the UK’s National Grid.

We are now recruiting for a Senior Control Room Operator.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the wells, flowlines, SGP process plant and SIRGE operation and status at all times and react appropriately to alarms and upsets.
  • Provide cover for Incident Controller during an incident,
  • Play a key role in coaching and mentoring Control Room Operators and lead the shift team in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
  • Responsible to complete override/inhibit/risk assessment forms and identify appropriate level of authorisation as dictated by assessment form before applying inhibit/override.
  • Safely and efficiently achieve production targets (Quantity & Quality) complying with wells and SGP procedures and instructions.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Level 3 qualification in fluid and gas mechanics, operations, or other relevant discipline, or equivalent
  • Previous experience with site operations
  • Good knowledge of well operations (ideally subsea), flowline and plant systems, processes and operating parameters.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels
  • Good logical problem solving skills
  • Able to use own judgement and decision making skills
