Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Contracts Administrator to support our growing Canadian operations. This role is responsible for the review, negotiation, and administration of construction contracts and subcontracts, working closely with project teams to support successful project execution.

This is a senior-level, individual contributor role focused on practical, business-oriented contracting. The ideal candidate brings strong construction contract experience, a working knowledge of Canadian practices, and the ability to work effectively in both French and English.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contract Review & Negotiation

• Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts in both English and French
• Support efficient and practical contract execution aligned with project and business goals
• Negotiate key commercial terms, including payment provisions, indemnity, insurance, and scope

Project Support

• Partner with project managers and internal stakeholders to align contract terms with project requirements
• Provide guidance on contract obligations and support issue resolution during project execution

Risk & Compliance

• Identify contractual risks and work with internal teams to develop practical, business-focused solutions
• Apply working knowledge of Canadian construction practices, including lien/holdback and prompt payment requirements
• Escalate complex or non-standard issues to the Director of Contracts or legal counsel as needed

Contract Management

• Manage contracts through the contract lifecycle, including tracking approvals, amendments, and execution
• Ensure all contract documentation is accurate, complete, and properly maintained
• Support reporting, audits, and compliance requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, procurement, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in construction contract administration
• Bilingual in French and English (required) – able to read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages
• Experience negotiating construction contracts and subcontracts
• Working knowledge of Canadian construction practices across the multiple provinces (e.g., lien/holdback, prompt payment)
• Experience working with a Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system or document management platform preferred
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tracking/reporting tools
• Strong written communication, organization and problem-solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in business, legal studies, procurement, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in construction contract administration
• 2+ years of experience negotiating construction contracts and subcontracts in both French and English
• 2+ years of professional experience with Canadian construction practices across the multiple provinces (e.g., lien/holdback, prompt payment)

RESPONSABILITÉS
Examen et négociation des contrats

• Examiner, rédiger et négocier des contrats de construction en anglais et en français
• Soutenir une exécution contractuelle efficace et pragmatique, alignée avec les objectifs des projets et de l’entreprise
• Négocier les principales conditions commerciales, notamment les modalités de paiement, les indemnités, les assurances et le périmètre des travaux

Support aux projets

• Collaborer avec les chefs de projet et les parties prenantes internes pour aligner les conditions contractuelles avec les exigences des projets
• Fournir des conseils sur les obligations contractuelles et soutenir la résolution des problèmes pendant l’exécution des projets

Risques et conformité

• Identifier les risques contractuels et collaborer avec les équipes internes pour développer des solutions pragmatiques et orientées business
• Appliquer une connaissance opérationnelle des pratiques canadiennes en construction, y compris les privilèges/retentions (lien/holdback) et les exigences de paiement rapide
• Escalader les problématiques complexes ou non standard au directeur des contrats ou au conseiller juridique si nécessaire

Gestion des contrats

• Gérer les contrats tout au long de leur cycle de vie, y compris le suivi des approbations, des modifications et de l’exécution
• S’assurer que toute la documentation contractuelle est précise, complète et correctement archivée
• Soutenir les activités de reporting, d’audit et de conformité

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES

• Diplôme ou licence en commerce, droit, achats ou domaine connexe
• 5+ ans d’expérience en administration de contrats de construction
• Bilingue français/anglais (obligatoire) – capacité à lire, écrire et communiquer efficacement dans les deux langues
• Expérience en négociation de contrats et sous-contrats de construction
• Connaissance pratique des réglementations canadiennes en construction dans plusieurs provinces (ex. : privilèges/retentions, paiement rapide)
• Expérience avec un système de gestion du cycle de vie des contrats (CLM) ou une plateforme de gestion documentaire (un atout)
• Excellentes compétences organisationnelles et grande attention aux détails
• Maîtrise de Microsoft Office et des outils de suivi/reporting
• Excellentes compétences en communication écrite, organisation et résolution de problèmes
