The opportunity

The Senior Contract Administrator will be part of the commercial function within Downer’s Power Projects business unit. Reporting into the Commercial Manager this role maybe be based from Newcastle NSW, North Ryde NSW or Brisbane QLD. The successful candidate can envision themselves attending to duties such as:

What you’ll do

• Responsible for the timely and effective administration of contractual agreements to ensure that Downer obtains the full benefit of those agreements whilst ensuring our rights are maintained and obligations fulfilled
• Support Commercial Managers with both upstream and downstream commercial management including day-to-day administration of the head contract and subcontract agreements
• Successfully navigate claims, disputes and contractual issues to ensure successful outcomes
• Manage subcontractor payment claims, including assessment, approvals and payments, ensuring that Downer remains compliant with its head contract and legal obligations
• Draft, review and negotiate contract terms and conditions for subcontractors
• Manage commercial/contractual correspondence, claims, etc, with clients and contractors when required
• To work collaboratively to ensure compliance to policies/procedures and statutory responsibilities
  Participate in detailed project reviews including the preparation of all documentation and close out of action

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor of Business, Quantity Surveying, Laws or Engineering, or recognised prior industry learning suitable for the role
• 5 plus years of experience in a commercial role in construction projects preferably within transmission and renewables
• Understanding and awareness of corporate governance and processes and procedures
• Excellent commercial management skills including interpreting and applying contract terms and legislation provisions
• Sound working knowledge of project management principles and project control applications
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Negotiation and influencing to achieve desired outcomes; Developed analytical and planning/prioritisation skills Developed financial planning and budgeting skills
