Job Description

Elevate your career, perform when it counts: become part of our global financial consulting evolution!

Your role:

We are growing our Treasury Advisory Group in Belgium, and we are looking for an experienced treasury professional to join our specialist team in Antwerp. Zanders has advised corporate treasuries for over three decades, and our Belgian practice works with multinationals headquartered here and across Europe.

As a Senior Consultant you will advise clients across the full treasury agenda — treasury strategy and operating model, cash and liquidity management, payments and bank connectivity, financial risk management, and the technology that supports all of it. You will take responsibility for your own workstreams from early on, work directly with client stakeholders, and coach the junior colleagues on your projects.

You will work alongside an international team on both Belgian and cross-border engagements, which means genuine variety: one project might be designing a cash pooling structure for a Benelux group, the next assessing a treasury operating model for a listed multinational. The common thread is that you own your part of it.

We are looking for someone entrepreneurial — by which we mean someone who spots what a client needs before being asked, and who wants a say in how the Belgian practice grows rather than simply working within it.

Your background will be in corporate treasury or treasury consulting, with a solid foundation you now want to broaden.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients across the treasury agenda — treasury strategy and operating model, cash and liquidity management, payments and bank connectivity, financial risk management, and treasury policy and governance.

  • Design and improve treasury processes, structures and controls, including cash pooling, in-house banking and payment factory setups.

  • Support clients on financial risk management: identifying FX, interest rate and commodity exposures and shaping practical hedging approaches.

  • Advise on treasury technology where it forms part of the solution — reviewing current practices, shaping the technology roadmap, supporting vendor selection and contributing to implementations.

  • Take responsibility for defined workstreams within treasury advisory projects, keeping scope, quality and timelines on track and raising risks early.

  • Analyse client situations to get to the root of the problem and weigh the realistic options before recommending a direction.

  • Balance multiple concurrent projects, planning ahead and adjusting when priorities shift.

  • Set clear expectations with client stakeholders and keep the dialogue constructive throughout the engagement.

  • Coach the junior colleagues on your projects — sharing what you know and giving feedback they can act on.

  • Help identify new business and project opportunities in Belgium and internationally, and contribute to proposals, RFPs, client presentations, events and networking.

  • Track developments in treasury practice, regulation and technology, and bring them into client work.

  • Host and contribute to knowledge sessions such as treasury boot camps and guest lectures, and get involved in internal initiatives across our offices.

Skills to be successful

Essential

  • Three to five years in corporate treasury or treasury consulting.

  • Solid working knowledge across treasury management, cash and liquidity management, payments, bank connectivity and in-house banking.

  • Familiarity with day-to-day and month-end treasury operations and processes.

  • Comfortable working directly with clients and building your own network of contacts.

  • Experience taking responsibility for your own workstream and managing competing priorities.

  • Fluent English, written and spoken, and the right to work in Belgium.

Also valuable

  • Dutch. Many of our Belgian clients work in Dutch, so it will help you build relationships faster — but our working language is English and this is genuinely not a requirement.

  • Implementation experience with treasury management systems such as SAP, FIS, ION or Kyriba, and related tools such as SWIFT.

  • Experience in financial risk management — FX, interest rate or commodity hedging.

  • A professional qualification such as ACT, or a relevant Master's degree.

  • French, given clients across Belgium.

We offer:

  • A hybrid work environment, that promotes a healthy work-life balance,

  • Allowance to set up your home office in an ergonomically responsible way and an internet allowance,

  • Mobility budget to cater your commuting needs,

  • Participation in the Zanders bonus scheme,

  • Secure your future with a pension scheme,

  • 29 paid holiday days,

  • A laptop and an iPhone,

  • An entrepreneurial culture that values personal development, with ample room for initiatives,

  • Expertise in your chosen field, building skills rapidly alongside diverse clients and consultants,

  • A truly collegiate environment with enthusiastic and helpful colleagues, fostering career excellence in Treasury, Risk or Technology,

  • An international and fun working environment, Cultural night events, annual Zanders's trip to a (surprise) location in Europe and many more exciting experiences to come!
