Job Description

Job Requisition ID: 41910

Do you want to help some of the largest, most interesting organisations in the world imagine, deliver and run the future?

In response to the growing demand for our market leading M&A Consulting services, we are looking to grow our Finance Function M&A Integration and Separation capability across Australia to deliver trusted advice and practical solutions for our clients.

If you are looking to take your career to the next level within the world of mergers and acquisitions, then our team provides you with the perfect opportunity:
• We have supported some of Australia’s most iconic transactions across private equity and corporate Australia.

• We invest in our people - you will have access to experienced coaches, world class training and global development opportunities.

About the team

We know that Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) are a huge deal for businesses, so whether the focus is on growth through acquisitions or increasing shareholder value through strategic divestments, we support clients from start to finish.
Our M&A Consulting Services Team focuses on the deal cycle - including assessment of deal targets with commercial and operational due diligence, pre-deal analysis, deal execution and implementation. We provide support for our clients during sell-side separations and buy-side integrations, with a focus on increasing growth and value, and helping our clients navigate complex deal processes.
Due to the high level of M&A activity as well as the strategic growth and direction of the M&A Consulting Services team, we are seeking Finance professionals to help grow our M&A Finance capability.

What will your typical day look like?

Our M&A Finance capability works closely with our broader M&A Consulting Team to help clients navigate the financial and operational implications of major transactions. This spans the full transaction lifecycle — from pre-deal preparation and cost modelling, through transaction execution, Day 1 readiness and integration or separation, to post-deal optimisation

As a member of our M&A Finance capability, you will work with CFOs and Finance teams to solve complex problems in situations where the business, operating model, systems and financial information are often changing rapidly. Depending on your experience, this could include helping a client prepare for a transaction by getting their financials and Finance function deal-ready, developing pre-deal cost and scenario models, designing Finance transformation solutions, or working through the practical separation and transition of Finance and broader corporate operations.

You will bring a strategic point of view, structured problem solving, strong consulting skills and a pragmatic approach to delivering outcomes. We value depth in a particular area, but do not expect every candidate to have experience across all of the areas below The opportunity is to build on your existing expertise while developing broader M&A and transaction experience across a range of deal constructs, including trade sales, IPOs, demergers, takeovers and privatisations.

Your specific responsibilities may include:

  • Pre-deal and transaction readiness - helping clients prepare for a transaction, including Finance readiness assessments, financial information, reporting, diligence preparation and identification of key risks and gaps
  • Financial and cost modelling - developing models to assess transaction implications, including standalone costs, stranded costs, synergies, one-off costs and ongoing operating requirements
  • Finance integration and separation - developing strategies and delivering practical solutions across Day 1 readiness, Finance TSAs, operating model design, accounting operations, balance sheet operationalisation, processes and controls
  • Finance transformation and systems - supporting finance transformation, including operating model and process redesign, organisation design, ERP / Finance systems implementation and ledger migration
  • Operational and supply chain separation — working through the practical separation of contracts, suppliers, procurement and other operational dependencies, including transitional arrangements and TSAs
  • Post-deal Finance — supporting clients to establish an effective standalone or integrated Finance function, including management reporting, FP&A, chart of accounts and close processes
  • Client and practice leadership — managing workstreams and client relationships, working with broader deal teams and contributing to business development, methodologies and thought leadership

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You are someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification (e.g. CA / CFA / MBA)
  • 3+ years’ experience in Finance, CFO advisory, transaction services, Finance transformation or related consulting. This is a guide only – we are more interested in your capability and experience than a specific career path
  • Strong experience in one or more relevant areas, such as transaction services and financial modelling, Finance transformation and systems, Finance integration / separation, or supply chain and operational separation
  • Experience with financial systems, modelling or large-scale transformation relevant to your area of expertise
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into practical solutions
  • An understanding of how Finance interacts with the broader M&A / transaction lifecycle is highly regarded
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and project management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment

We are not looking for someone who ticks every box. We are looking for people with depth in one or more of these areas who can bring their expertise to complex transactions and work collaboratively across the broader M&A Consulting team.
