Job Description

We’re BDO, a global professional services firm connected to local markets. Our people work together to provide specialist expertise, helping businesses achieve their goals.

We inspire others, to go further. We create together, to reach higher. We build trust, to lead purposefully.

Whether you're building your future or starting your career with us, you won’t do it alone. From creating solutions for our clients to building careers for our people, we shape what matters, and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

As part of BDO’s continued growth in our Risk Consulting Services practice, we are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Internal Audit and Risk team in Brisbane.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of clients, supporting them to strengthen their governance frameworks, uplift risk management maturity, and enhance internal control environments.
At BDO, we go beyond traditional audit. You will play a key role in delivering insight-led, value-add internal audit and advisory engagements, helping our clients build resilient, future-ready organisations through practical, forward-thinking solutions.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver end-to-end internal audit engagements, from risk assessment and planning through to fieldwork, reporting and stakeholder communication
  • Perform process walkthroughs, control testing and root cause analysis to identify key risks and control gaps
  • Delivering practical recommendations that drive real improvement and develop clear, high-quality reports and Audit Committee-ready insights
  • Assess and uplift enterprise risk management, governance structures and internal control frameworks
  • Support the design and implementation of fit-for-purpose risk and compliance frameworks
  • Build strong relationships with client stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team culture
  • Support business development initiatives, including proposals and identifying opportunities to add value

About You:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in internal audit, risk consulting, or governance and controls (ideally in professional services)
  • Proven ability to deliver client-facing projects and manage multiple engagements
  • Strong capability in risk assessments and audit planning
  • Solid understanding of control design and effectiveness testing
  • Ability to develop practical, value-add recommendations
  • Strong understanding of risk management and internal control frameworks (e.g. ISO 31000, COSO) and governance/assurance models
