Our consulting team

Within Zanders Risk Advisory, we are a group of 20 individuals with Masters and PhDs in scientific disciplines. Despite a variety of academic backgrounds, we are brought together by a shared passion for solving intellectual challenges in a highly social, diverse and collaborative atmosphere. During the week, we work for our clients, and on Fridays, we get together at our offices in Amsterdam and Utrecht to share ideas, learnings, and good times.

Models make the financial industry safer

International financial institutions call on us when they require expert advice on model development, model validation and model strategy. It is an industry where models are vital and go straight to production (no PoCs), marked by high modeling maturity, large data science teams, and stringent regulatory pressure. No matter the use-case and whatever the algorithm (e.g Rule-based, Statistical, Deep Learning), we ensure the models powering our client’s operations are conceptually sound, economically viable, effective, safe and fair.

A domain that demands innovation

Banks invest significant efforts in combating financial crime. The high volume and velocity of data encountered in these cases fosters an environment where new technologies are rapidly embraced. Moreover, as this data is centered around individuals, computational challenges are augmented by the need to manage AI risks (e,g via Model Risk, Operational Risk) and ensure compliance (e.g AI Act). Recent projects include designing a future-proof model landscape, developing an efficient calculation engine for transaction monitoring and conducting the final performance tests of GenAI-based agents before going live.

Skills to be successful:

• PhD or Master's degree in mathematics, physics, econometrics, computer science or engineering

• Advanced programming skills in e.g Python and Spark

• High degree of creativity, adaptability, and sociability

• For Manager position: 4+ years track record in running quantitative projects, preferably in a consulting environment

• For Senior Consultant position: 2+ years track record in quantitative projects

• Experience in creating NLP and LLM pipelines is a plus

• Regulatory knowledge (e.g. AI act, wwft) and experience in the financial sector is preferred
