Responsibilities:
  • Understand and document existing AML model risk governance and data governance processes, systems, governance frameworks, controls, and periodic validation activities.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify risks, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities against internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Assess the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of business processes and controls across AML functions and supporting systems.
  • Develop remediation plans for identified control gaps and process deficiencies, and partner with stakeholders to drive implementation and issue resolution.
  • Perform analysis of transaction, alert, and other relevant data to evaluate control effectiveness, identify root causes, and recommend process enhancements.
  • Engage and collaborate with business, Compliance, Model Risk Management, IT, and APAC stakeholders to gather requirements, conduct interviews, and achieve alignment on key initiatives.
  • Prepare and present assessment findings, risk evaluations, recommendations, management reports, meeting materials, and other project deliverables.
  • Document observations, issues, and actionable recommendations clearly and concisely for both management and project stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify project activities, key risks, issues, dependencies, and next steps, exercising sound judgment to advance deliverables independently.
  • Manage project plans, timelines, risks, issues, and deliverable quality to ensure successful and timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Monitor progress of remediation activities and provide ongoing follow-up to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of agreed actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending enhancements to AML governance, controls, processes, and data management practices.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the banking, financial services, or consulting industry, supporting banking or financial institution clients.
  • Knowledge of AML/CFT frameworks, regulations, and operational processes, including KYC, Transaction Monitoring, Transaction Filtering, and Name Screening.
  • Experience in evaluating and enhancing business processes, governance frameworks, risk management practices, and internal controls.
  • Exposure to model risk governance, data governance, compliance, risk management, independent reviews, or control effectiveness assessments is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and map complex business processes, governance structures, controls, and validation activities.
  • Ability to perform gap assessments against internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, and identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Experience assessing the design, implementation, and effectiveness of business processes and controls, and developing practical remediation recommendations.
  • Ability to analyze issues, determine root causes, assess business impacts, and recommend sustainable solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and proactively drive assigned responsibilities to completion.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage priorities, timelines, risks, issues, and deliverable quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, Compliance, Model Risk Management, IT, and regional teams.
  • Ability to conduct stakeholder interviews, gather and validate requirements, clarify issues, and facilitate alignment and consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex findings, assessments, and recommendations clearly to management and stakeholders.
  • Ability to review and interpret system documentation, including design documents, specifications, data flows, and processing logic.
  • Understanding of system functions, key data elements, data lineage, and their relationship to business processes and controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare clear, structured, and high-quality reports, presentations, and project deliverables.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining data governance artifacts, including data dictionaries, data flow documentation, and Key Data Element (KDE) inventories.
  • Familiarity with planning and conducting periodic data governance validation and review activities.
  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese is mandatory to effectively engage, communicate, and collaborate with Japanese-speaking stakeholders and clients.
