Job Description

Steer is seeking a Senior Consultant to bolster our Advisory Team in Italy. This role will involve supporting both public and private sector clients, including local public transport operators, concessionaires, investment funds, financial institutions, and public authorities.

The candidate will engage in a variety of projects, providing strategic, economic, and financial advice related to public transport service concessions, fleet renewal/acquisition, and the implementation of mass rapid transit systems.

Key responsibilities will include conducting strategic and market analysis, as well as providing technical support in the evaluation of urban and extra-urban public transport networks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong critical thinking abilities, and a collaborative team approach.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience

· 5+ years of relevant experience in the transport sector, particularly with a strong understanding of the public transport industry encompassing both rail and bus.

· Knowledge of transport planning and scheduling software (e.g. Optibus, Maior, IVU)

· Quantitative and analytical skills.

· Verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex analyses to non-technical audiences and effectively liaising with clients.

· Good report writing capabilities, with a knack for developing logical, structured narratives.

· Strong interpersonal skills, effective time management, and ability to work well within a team.

· Proactive, self-initiating work style with the ability to work independently.

· Fluency in both Italian and English is required.

Desiderable skills

· Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

· Proven ability to manage projects effectively, ensuring they meet specified time, cost, and quality standards.

· Previous experience in transport consultancy.

Education

· Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience in infrastructure and transport projects.
