Dominion Water & Sanitation District, Colorado

Senior Construction Manager

Take the lead on landmark water and wastewater infrastructure that will support Colorado communities for decades to come.

Dominion Water & Sanitation District (DWSD) is seeking a seasoned construction leader ready to step into a highly visible, owner-side role and guide complex capital projects from the field. With the Chatfield Basin Water Reclamation Facility as an immediate priority, this is a chance to coordinate major construction work, bring multiple project partners together, and help deliver essential infrastructure for a growing region.

This is an opportunity to be close to the work, guide complex construction decisions, and make a visible impact on long-term water and wastewater service in northwest Douglas County. Reporting to the Capital Programs Manager, the Senior Construction Manager will support planning and preconstruction and help lead projects through construction, startup, commissioning, closeout, and transition to operations.

  • Take ownership of major water and wastewater construction from the owner’s side.
  • Bring prime contractors and project partners together as one coordinated construction team.
  • Guide three Project Engineers who help keep field activities, contractor coordination, and project communication on track.

Examples of duties

This role is ideal for a construction leader who wants more than oversight: someone who enjoys being close to the work, solving moving-field challenges, and shaping infrastructure that communities will rely on for years.

  • Builds trust with contractors, consultants, inspectors, operators, staff, and external partners
  • Brings steady field judgment, strong communication, and practical problem-solving to active construction environments
  • Develops technical staff and keeps teams focused, informed, and accountable
  • Has the experience to lead complex construction from planning through closeout, including general contractor, multi-prime, or independently contracted scopes
  • Brings experience in water, wastewater, utilities, industrial construction, heavy civil construction, or similarly complex capital projects

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field
  • At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible construction management experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction projects from planning through closeout, including scheduling, planning, cost control, contract administration, and field coordination
  • General contractor experience or direct multi-prime project management experience overseeing multiple independently contracted scopes
  • Experience with water, wastewater, treatment facilities, utilities, industrial construction, heavy civil construction, or similarly complex capital projects is highly desirable

Desired Qualifications

Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation is preferred. Comparable experience working for a general contractor, construction management firm, consultant, municipality, water district, public utility, or industrial owner will be considered based on its relevance to Dominion’s multi-prime delivery needs.
