Job Description

Cordoba is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager (SCM) to lead El Camino College projects. Serving as a key representative for our team and a primary point of contact for our client. This role requires a confident, client‑facing professional with exceptional communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic project environment. Experience in educational facility construction, public works, DSA, and/or large commercial projects is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, oversees, and coordinates all facets of the pre-construction, bid and award, construction, and close-out phases of all assigned projects.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day construction activities for various projects, ensuring alignment with district goals, timelines, and quality standards
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the client, contractors, consultants, and internal teams
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and documentation with precision and accountability
  • Lead coordination efforts across multiple disciplines, resolving issues proactively
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and DSA requirements
  • Provide clear, consistent communication to stakeholders at all levels
  • Monitor construction progress and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Support procurement, contract administration, and change management processes

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of construction management experience in similar education facilities, particularly in DSA jurisdiction
  • Proven experience in:
    • Athletic field construction
    • Modular building installations
    • Ground-up construction
  • DSA experience is required
  • Strong client‑facing presence with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and project controls

Preferred:

  • Institutional/Higher Ed experience preferred but not required
  • Experience working for an owner, CM firm, and/or general contractor on large construction projects of $20M+ is a plus

Salary Range: $160,000 to $175,000 yearly

Location: Torrance, CA

Work Environment: Onsite
