Job Description

We are looking for an experienced senior compliance professional with a background in regulated retail financial services - specifically saving, investing and retirement products. Your role will be to support projects, innovation and process enhancements that sit outside “business as usual” and/or the existing Moneybox product set. You will report to the Risk & Compliance Director (SMF 16) and work closely with other senior roles in the Risk & Compliance leadership team. You will also engage and collaborate with stakeholders across the entire business to plan, launch and oversee new products, services and processes. Moneybox is a fast-moving and ambitious business, which is continually improving and expanding its services for customers, as well as enhancing the level of governance within its regulatory perimeter. You will be required to provide expert, timely, and pragmatic advice for new, ad hoc, and non-BAU initiatives, ensuring that any innovations are launched safely and compliantly and adequate ongoing governance is in place. You’ll need to have experience and confidence in reporting at the most senior levels of the business, including the Executive Committee, Risk Committee and Board, as well as interacting with the FCA as required.

What You’ll Do

  • Project Support: Be the primary Compliance point of contact for complex, cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives that fall outside the existing remit of the product-aligned Compliance teams.
  • Innovation Oversight: Provide robust, pragmatic regulatory advice and challenge to new business models, product concepts, and technological innovation from inception, ensuring compliance and ongoing governance requirements are embedded from the start (compliance by design).
  • Up-Level Core: Make recommendations on enhancements to existing core processes, governance and product oversight, and work together with other members of the Risk & Compliance leadership team to implement.
  • Regulatory & Market Scrutiny: Conduct proactive horizon scanning and assessment of emerging regulations and market trends relevant to Moneybox to ensure the business is prepared for future regulatory change.
  • Ad Hoc Advisory: Take ownership of non-BAU compliance queries, deep-dive investigations, and one-off advisory work requested by Senior Management.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with the other members of the Risk & Compliance leadership team to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach across the function, including engagement with broader business stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Lead on ad hoc Compliance reporting to the Risk & Compliance Director and relevant committees concerning projects, innovation and new regulatory risks.

Who you are

  • A driven, motivated person who’s looking for a senior role at an exciting, fast-growing company that’s trying to make a positive mark on the world.
  • A generalist with a deep background in retail financial services, who can rapidly acquire deep knowledge of new regulatory areas and apply a consistent risk-based approach across varied topics.
  • An expert in stakeholder management, able to present, discuss, and persuade at the highest levels of the organisation, translating complex regulatory issues to business terms.
  • An authority on FCA regulation, governance, and the regulatory perimeter, with the ability to determine regulatory impact on novel activities.
  • Has a highly questioning mind, thrives bringing structure to ambiguity, and can work collaboratively to solve complex, first-of-a-kind problems pragmatically.
  • Calm, clear and able to quickly adapt and manage conflicting priorities arising from multiple concurrent projects.
  • Organised, diligent and pragmatic with a strong bias for action and desire to develop deep knowledge in new areas.
  • Knows how to have fun whilst maintaining a professional outlook

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 10 years in financial services compliance, with significant experience in a generalist or project-focused advisory role within a regulated firm or consultancy.
  • Extensive, broad knowledge of UK regulatory requirements across various retail financial products and regulatory permissions.
  • Demonstrable experience providing compliance advice on innovation and new business lines, and working directly with senior management.
  • Great communication and listening skills.
  • Fluency in English.

What’s in it for you?

  • Opportunity to join a fast-growing, award-winning and super ambitious company
  • Work with a friendly team of highly motivated individuals
  • Be in an environment where you are listened to and can actually have an impact
  • Thriving collaborative and inclusive company culture
  • Company pension scheme
  • Company bonus scheme
  • Hybrid working environment
  • Home office furniture allowance
  • Personal Annual Learning and Development budget
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Health Cash Plan – cashback on everyday healthcare like dental and opticians
  • Cycle to work scheme – spread the cost of a new bike and accessories
  • CycleSaver – save on bike-share subscriptions and have a more sustainable commute
  • Wellhub subscription to a variety of gyms and wellbeing apps
  • Enhanced parental pay & leave
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays with additional days added with length of service.

About Moneybox

Moneybox is a wealth management platform, but we’re guided by our belief that wealth isn’t about the money. It’s about the means to more – more freedom and possibility, more opportunities and more peace of mind.

And we’re on a mission to give everyone the means to get more out of life.

Millions of us go through life feeling like we should be doing more to get on top of our money. But we leave it at the bottom of our to-do lists, because we're not sure where to get started or how to take the next step.

This isn’t surprising when:

Most of us weren’t taught about saving and investing at school.

We’re confronted by a complex, fragmented, and confusing industry.

Getting help making decisions about money has traditionally been reserved for a privileged few.

This leaves us feeling anxious and uncertain, and we end up with less money for the things that really matter to us.

At Moneybox, we believe that building wealth throughout life, and all of the freedom, opportunities, and peace of mind that come with it, should be possible for everyone.

We launched in 2016 and helped thousands of people start investing with just their spare change. Today, we’re now helping more than one million people build wealth throughout their lives. Whether they’re saving and investing, buying their first home, or planning for retirement, our customers will get a service they can rely on, that supports them through every step, and celebrates with them along the way.
